This came out of a 2002 Fleer Platinum Jumbo pack yesterday at the LCS...I was as suspect as you all are because the shield looked different than the ones on the newer jerseys that we are all accustomed to seeing on cards today...but you also have to remember that back then there was no set premium on LOGO cards or SHIELD cards yet and all patches were used on game-used cards...this one clearly is labled PATCH on the front ( its number 12/61) and on the back it says: This card contains a piece of a nameplate from an authentic game-worn jersey by Tom Brady...then its got the Fleer/Skybox VP signature and info. Its sad to see things called a fake because of the multiple scammers out there, its really hurting the industry and collectors in general.

Why would it have a logo in there then?

Because Tom Brady owns the NFL and they use it rather than his name?

This was quoted to state what was listed on the back of the card since I didn't scan it...not as me trying to state a fact and I would never list it as a 1/1 ebay scammer crap...
So it looks like I'm F'd because of all the fake crap out there...great, good thing the pack only cost me $4

If I pulled a card like that I would send it to someone like BGS and have it slabbed as authentic. It's unfortunate if the card is legit that it will not bring much on the market.

Agreed, I'd get it slabbed as authentic if you want to move it, thanks to patch fakers in the industry. But if you're keeping it for yourself, I would just enjoy the fact I got a card like that out of a pack!

I may be naive here, but I am going with Authentic.
From what I remember almost all of these cards had some premium patches in the set.
Like I said though, I may be naive, but I am going with real.

Authentic doesn't mean crap they don't authenticate patches only cards

So if I took a patch card and make it abundantly obvious it was a fake they would still put it in a slab?

Dude....I like your card. I'm not gonna tell you its fake cause I dont know. is it suspect? Maybe. BUt back in the day a G/U card was just that. Anything off the uni. I would have been happy with the pull. Was it in a sealed box?

Yeah if the card is destroyed or shows obvious signs of faking, otherwise, they just authenticate the card.

Personally, I dont think the card is real because of what the logo looks like. Seems like someone would just post on here to save their own ass on a deal that they got burned on, thus allowing a resale on eBay, or just wants to make it seem authentic because he posted, when really it isnt. Its just too perfect of a story when the card doesnt live up to scrutiny. Plus, its fleer for god's sake, havent we all learned our lesson there?

That is quite an assumption don't you think....since I have never posted this type of card before its not real...and if you would have read I pulled it from a $4 jumbo pack of 2002 Fleer Platinum yesterday at a card shop. This wasn't posted to see if it was real or fake it was posted because it was a great pull...thanks for sharing your opinion as we have all learned so much from it...another reason that this hobby is becoming a joke

Your card is very suspect. It clearly says nameplate patch, yet it is a logo. That does not even fit in with the theme of the set.

Second, the logo loogs cheap. The stars are bad and the football has zig-zags, not laces, which is a usual sign of a fake logo patch. Can you post a picture of the back with the serial number. I would be curious to see how that looks.

The trend seems to be several people asking for a scan of the back and one still hasn't been provided  Wonder what that means

Just look at the edges of the card. i wouldn't expect that much chipping if it came from a pack

I said the same thing, yet no response...
