the season end. I know we still have the post season but it is not like the reg. season when we true baseball fans speak everyday about the games and not about everyday things.
What do you feel like when the last game comes and goes ?

Sad. I feel sad. But the offseason is prospecting season. On to BA articles and the Arizona Fall League.

There really is baseball somewhere at all times, be it the Hawaiian Winter League, or the Latin American Leagues. Just not Major League baseball....

Yea.. bums me out too.. hate to see it go.. I hate not being able to turn on the TV and find something like the Twins vs Royals.. just for laughs..

Well lets all start planning for next year for trips, prospects and games.. Read Bart Giamatti's story's beginning below.. very moving for today!

The Green Fields of the Mind "

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone

I am sad too, i want my Giants to start picking up some new players now, but they probably won't do anything in this first month (post season) except re-sign some plays (hopefully Uribe).

Here's too a loooooooooooooooong offseason

I get sad also as the season comes to an end, but I do get excited as I know for the next 6 months I'll be picking up my favorite players' cards for much less than I have been during the season. Yah offseason.

There's great baseball outside of the Major Leagues. I made some serious cash buying up Mat Gamel during his breakout in the Hawaiian Winter League.

Today is definitely bittersweet. Its depressing to have the season end, but at the same time, thank goodness, as 2010 offers most of our teams a fresh start.
That's the good thing about living in AZ, however. Baseball from March-November. Even though I won't know probably 80% of the Fall League players, it's still fun to catch a game.

As a 41 year strong Mets fan, the season ending is as bitter sweet as it gets. The beginning of the season held great promise for us only to have injuries ruin it. Oh well, I'll borrow a page from the Cubs and proudly say "Wait until next year!"

Not having baseball year-round only helps me to appreciate the game all the more. I'd take it for granted if it were always played, especially at the major league level.

Very sad, even though my team was out of contention before the season even started there are always things that pop up that get me excited for the team as well as just enjoying baseball.

Well I hate to see it come, as I have year after year but I love the post season. This part of baseball has always been my favorite. And with the Yankees being in it again this year, its gonna be exciting for me to watch.

Some of my fondest memories growing up involve watching my other team, the Braves, go late into the night against the Pirates in the playoffs. That was good times indeed.

Always love reading that!

I am 42 and also feel the sadness as the season ends. I wonder how much of the sadness is brought on by the reminder of passing time, passing seasons, passing years, and, ultimately, our own mortality.

I know that at least 90% of my love for the game is simply transferred love for those who taught me about the game when I was young. Each time I watch a game, I think about them: my mom, my grandparents, and I somehow feel that they are still with me.

Sad is how I feel about it. I think wow, another 6 months before I see the Mets play again...then I think about the season they had, and think perhaps that could be a good thing. I may trick myself yet again over the winter that the boys will put it together and do it next year.

The good news, perhaps I can do something more productive every night, than watching the Mets implode.
