So I dont know why I bought this. But its a box of 1987 Topps rack packs. What are some top cards, if any, to look for?

I don't think there is anything in there that would sell for more than $.50. Bonds RC maybe....

The Bonds RC is the only card worth anything and it probably won't bring you a fiver. Hope you didn't drop too much on that.

Thats not exactly true, if you can find some PSA 10's for some of the stars, you can do alright, especially Bonds and Maddux...
~PSA 10's? But these cards are all raw...~

Main cards are RCs of

Bonds
Palmiero
Will Clark
Bo Jackson
Barry Larkin

Also, at one time it wasnt too bad to pull out the McGwires and Clemens cards....

As stated, nothing really earth shattering out of them, but nice cheap decent looking RCs of the players mentioned above.

Other than Bonds, the other notable RCs are Larkin, Palmiero, Bo Jackson and Will Clark. Those cards are a dime a dozen, though. I think Maddux is a traded card.

Maddux is only in Traded. 87 Topps has the following RC's:

McGwire, Bonds, Palmeiro, Bo Jackson, Canseco, Larkin... all in all, I think it's a pretty fun break with a lot of solid stars and rooks. Enjoy!

He was only in 87 Topps Traded...not the regular set....

But yes, really any of the pack fresh HOFers (quite a few now in the set) would at least be ok if they were PSA 10 quality.

lets see, you got Mattingly, Sandberg, Schmidt, Boggs, Ozzie, Ripken, Pete Rose, Molitor, Gwynn, Yount, Gaylord Perry, Niekro Bros., Eckersley, Rice, Dawson, Fisk, Nolan Ryan, Eddie Murray, George Brett, etc.

yeah, i just realized that.

If you really want to have some fun and have alot of patience, open up some 1986 topps and hope for PSA 10's. You can make a nice profit doing that, especially with some of the HOF'ers....

Not his RC, but still a $3.00 card.

Wrong, it is still his RC; 85 Topps was the XRC, all 87's are RC's.

Actually the 85 Topps is McGwires RC.......back then the RC was considered the first card a player appeared on that was a mainstream realeased set (topps, donruss, fleer, and Upper Deck). The XRC was denoted for cards that were still the first year/card that player appeared on, but not a mainstream issue (Topps Traded, Upper Deck Final Ed., Donruss Rookies, Score Traded)

Example: 87 Fleer Maddux (RC)
87 Topps Traded Maddux (XRC)

87 Topps, Donruss, Fleer Bonds (RC)
86 Topps Traded, Fleer Update, Donruss Rookies (XRC)
