When i was doing kickboxing on a reg basis in 2005,thier was a lady that was taking it up.She was 185-190 lbs and benched pressed 250 lbs [3] set of 10.She looked like she never lifted a weight in her life.

She was quick as a cat and had some serious skills, she got married in 2006 and stopped training and settled down.I have no doubt that if she would have kept training, she would have been in 1 of these big shows.

She would have a hard time getting her weight down to 145 though. They need to have higher weight limit classes. Gina is naturally around 140-145. Chris Cyborg had to lose a ton of weight to get there.

Both Carano and Santos walk at about 160, maybe a couple of pounds less. Then they cut down to 145.
The only difference is Gina carries more bodyfat the Christiane but both have had issues making weight in the past, especially Gina. I think she went through a span where she only made weight once out of 4 fights.

But cutting weight is tough. I lost 21.5 lbs in the five days leading up to fight and 6 lbs the morning of.
Efffing sucks runnign around in a sauna suit with a hoodie and track pants on in late august/early september.
I remeber a couple of nights sitting in the car with the heat blasting because I couldnt get to a sauna.
The night b4 the fight, my gf (now wife) smeared abolene all over, wrapped me up in saran wrap, sauna suit, then I went into the washroom, turned turn the shower faucett on hot full blast and soaked out a couple of lbs.

Fun times !

I read a little about that - I think that Gina had problems making the 140 lb weight limit in the past. Also, I think it's harder for women to drop weight compared to men. I'm not going to cite references, but I recall reading something like that before. I am impressed that you lost 21.5 lbs in five days though! Holy crap!

Actually EliteXC created a division (140) specifically for her and she failed to make weight. She has also missed weight 2 other times I believe.
It is harder for woman to cut weight, especially when its that time of the month, mostly due to water retention and being bloated.

The only problem I have with people missing weight is that I find it extremely unprofessional man or woman.

But she got her butt kicked so I am happy either way.

And yeah I went from 191.5 on Monday morning to weighing in on saturday at about 3pm at 169.5.
By the monday morning though, I was back up to 190!

Whoa, that's crazy! I'm glad I don't have to make weight for anything. You could definitely tell the differences between Gina Carano's body size and Chris Cyborg's body size. Cyborg's arms were huge. I would not want to take a punch from her.

I just saw it for the first time - I thought Gina fought hard---she gassed. It was nowhere near as bad as I had heard it was.

Valid stoppage.
Cris was better at everything last night.

More aggresive, better combos, WAY more power.

She just overwhlemed Gina like I thought she would.

She is also 100 % a woman, and will be tested for drugs like every other fighter by the CSAC does in a title fight.

I know people say its impossible to look liek that, but it really isnt. Good combination of hard work, good genetics, and being 24 helps as well.

I dont really like when people say stuff like shes ugly or looks like a man. Shes a fighter, not a model, something I think Gina forgot. Thats not to say thats why she lost. She would lose 9 times out of 10 to Santos IMO!

Her takedowns were pretty sloppy though, especially for someone so powerful and experienced in the ground game. She packs a mean punch though, wow!

Abolene is no joke man. I will NEVER use that stuff when I have to cut weight. My one of my buddies used it for one of his muay thai fights and he was literally pale/green from the cut. He was so drained from the abolene opening up his pores, that he had to crawl up the stairs. It was really bad and almost to the point of being scary.

He is a natural 195-200 and he cuts down to 174.9 for MMA and MT. Eventually, he will fight at 169.9 or 164.9 after another fight or two.

In his last fight he won by armbar/gogoplata, in the first round.
