DO you have any tips/advice for what to do in the worst case scenario where your cards get stolen?

ie, is an excel spreadsheet that tracks serial numbers for some specific cards and a few scans enough info for the detectives to go on? Or do they require more/other evidence or proof of ownership or anything? Receipts maybe? I am glad this had a happy ending but maybe you can fill us in a bit on what you went through in terms of how we might be able to better protect our collections.
