The Cubs have a tradition of losing?

WS wins aside, I'm guessing nobody here realizes they have the 2nd most wins in MLB history.

They're also 817-801 over the last 10 seasons and have won their division 3 times.

Not saying that Zambrano's not a POS, but I'm tired of all the random Cubs-hate ********.

And just for the record, Zambrano has a career record of 125-81 with a 3.60 ERA and a 123 ERA+

He's among the league leaders in win% If he doesn't retire, somebody will pick him up...period
Regular season wins and division titles don't mean squat if you don't do win the WS.

which is why everyone talks about the Braves winning their division over and over and over again, and would even if they hadn't won a title

The cubs have nothing like what Atlanta accomplished in the 90's

and for sportscardtheory

I am not talking numbers, I am talking about respect. Zambrano has none, not even for himself.

Just a thought.

Do you think Zambrano is just fed up with Quade? And this is his way of bringing attention to the way he runs things?

Hard to defend him this time after finding out he cleaned out his locker.

I will say this though, I would love to play with guys like this, as opposed to playing with a bunch of players who play the game by just "going through the motions" and playing for the paycheck. I would love to play with guys who cared so much about winning that they show a lot of emotion when things aren't particullary going well.

I do not condone his actions at all, but guys who play the game with that much emotion and fire are good for the game of baseball.
You would love to play with a guy who just walked out on 24 of his teammates? Sounds like a great teammate to me.

There are plenty of guys who play with emotion who don't quit on their organization after a bad game.

I think Big Z could have flourished outside of the Cubs.
I'm sure humanitarian of the year nominee, TLR could've straightened Z out... ::facepalm::

I'm sure under Dave Duncan his career would have been much more successful so far.

No. I don't think you quite understand what I was getting at. Give me 24 guys who want to win as bad as Zambrano, and show the fire and competitive spirt minus the antics on the field and off. Those are the kind of players I am looking for.

I'm sure it's right in front of my face and I'm not seeing it but does anyone have a link to the on-field antics?

Gonzaga you gave a strange way of looking at this.

Zambrano isn't about winning. Sure he wants to win but so does everyone else.

He quit on his team, and that is probably the worst thing you can do in team sports. I want nothing of carlos zambrano in any professional athlete.

All I have ever heard him talk about is wanting to win. He wants to win, he wants the Cubs to win. Press conferences, newspaper quotes, media interviews, everything. He just wants to win. You are more than welcome to go back and look for this stuff. However, I don't blame you for not wanting to do so. I won't even pretend to think I know a lot about the Braves organization. Frankly, because I don't. I think the frustrations of being on so many losing teams, and only making the playoffs 3 times finally reached a point where Z was not able to control his anger, and he totally lost it. Everyone has a breaking point, and I think he finally reached his last night.

With that being said, it is no secret that he and Quade have never seen eye to eye. This could have possibly been his way of showing the Cubs organization what he thinks of the way the ballclub is being managed. (I believe this was mentioned earlier in the thread by another poster. I could be wrong, however)

Again as I have said in my two previous posts in this thread, I do not condone his actions, and will not even try to justify them from last night. I was probably the worst thing he could have done, no doubt.
