I think you will hard pressed to find a Cubs fan to defend Big Z.
Big Z was an incredible pitcher a few years ago, no one can argue that, but as soon as he started the head case, Cubs fans quickly turned. When D Lee and him went at it in re dugout was the last straw for many Cubs fans, including myself. I wish D Lee would have knocked his ass out, but he has too much class for that. I doubt he will ever be as dominant, but if anything he needs to go to a small market team to get his head straight.

The Cubs have a tradition of losing?

WS wins aside, I'm guessing nobody here realizes they have the 2nd most wins in MLB history.

They're also 817-801 over the last 10 seasons and have won their division 3 times.

Not saying that Zambrano's not a POS, but I'm tired of all the random Cubs-hate ********.

And just for the record, Zambrano has a career record of 125-81 with a 3.60 ERA and a 123 ERA+

He's among the league leaders in win% If he doesn't retire, somebody will pick him up...period
Did you really type this? You're proud that over the last 10 years they've won exactly 16 more games than they've lost?? ::facepalm:: The reason the Cubs have the second most wins is because they've been around since Jesus walked the earth and were a major city that could actually afford stars back in the early 1900's ( you know, the last time they won anything).

Guess what (and this might be hard for you to stomach but that doesn't make it false), the "random" Cubs-hate ********, as you put it, isn't so random. There are actually people out there that hate the Cubs. They hate them for any number of reasons, like being a perennial embarrassment to the game.

I still can't believe you're throwing the 16 games above .500 line out there.

I tell you what, now that the rest of the board is aware that you're "tired of this random Cubs-hate ********," I'm sure they will all stop.
Since you brought up what you're tired of let me tell you what we're tired of; homers that are so team blind that they actually defend the stats of a walking abortion like Carlos Zambrano.
Maybe you should just come in to this thread and bash Zambrano like the rest of us because that was why this thread was born. Stop whining about the Cubs bashing and start slamming a man that has been a waste of oxygen since the first day he stepped on the mound.

What can I say, but FCB rocks!
This is exactly what this forum should be all about: freedom of expression, about the hobby and the game.

For argument sake, let’s say Carlos Zambrano is a hot head and always has been. Let’s say all through his childhood, teenage years, and young adulthood life, Zambrano acted out privately and in social settings like school and sports.

Sometimes, a person’s talent out weights a character flaw so rather than experiencing outreach a person is passed along for the next person to deal with him/her. In this case, Zambrano met the wrong manager by the name of Lou Piniella. It’s weird, because a manager can act like an infamous ass, and yet he is remembered fondly for his ridiculous behavior, or acting out. Hot heads like Piniella are toxic managers and it’s possible that Piniella’s emotionality could have freaked out Zambrano, especially if Zambrano has a deep rooted borderline personality disorder.

As much as we like to hate people like Zambrano just take a moment to reflect on managers that “care so much about winning” and how they are complete idiots on and off the field. Their leadership skills are framed by saying, “this is their style of managing.” A lot of these hot headed managers, like Piniella will be in the Hall of Fame because they were good for the game and had talent as players and/or managers.

Personally, I think team administrative management does a better job protecting and handling team managers that act out, than the player’s union helping players.

I hate the player's union.

THe fact is that his talent and production are no longer worth the hassle. I am BEGGING HIM to retire and take his $18 million salary with him.

It is a long held belief of mine that Carlos Zambrano is the most classless individual in all of major league baseball.

He is Albert Belle with less talent for a new generation.

Tonight he got shelled, and then got angry because the cubs wouldn't pull him, and then threw at Chipper Jones to take the cowards way out.

I hope he gets released and never pitches in major league baseball again.
On Albert Belle:
"I really don't get involved in perceptions. We're all different, and that's what makes it interesting. Being judged on the things beyond what you do as a baseball player-sometimes I don't think thats necessarily right. Maybe you don't have the full story. When I come out here, I look at Albert as a teammate, I look at him as a baseball player. I look at how he comes to bat and how he approaches his job. He's someone you really appreciate when he's on your team. He's a 50-homer guy, a 140-rbi guy. He wants to play everyday. Who wouldn't want that? I have a lot of respect for him. Playing against him and watching how he goes about his job. I'm happy I'm his teammate."
- Cal Ripken Jr. (former teammate) Sports Illustrated...March 8, 1999
"He came here and played every day. He was a warrior for us and I wish him the best, Albert is not as bad a guy as people think. We knew him differently. I wish him luck."
- Frank Thomas (former teammate), Associated Press...June 17, 1999
"The media definitely portrays Albert like that. Everything's always a negative, because there's only one side. To me, that's unfair. It's like they expect the worse -- and he's the exact opposite. He's a really good teammate all-around, and he gives 100 percent."
- Jeff Reboulet (played with Albert on the O's)San Francisco Chronicle...August 4, 1999
"Just look at his numbers, that's all you have to do.He goes out and plays hard. He's really different from how he's portrayed; you guys don't give him a chance. Everything is blown out of proportion."
- Ken Griffey Jr., San Francisco Chronicle...August 4, 1999

"He comes to play every day, and that's all that matters to me.He gets a bum rap in the press. He's done some things that weren't smart, but I think he's a great guy. You certainly can't argue with how he goes about his business on the field."
- Tony Phillips (former teammate), San Francisco Chronicle...August 4, 1999
"He gets criticized a lot for not talking to the media, but that's indicative of his indifference to how he's perceived and whether he's regarded as a superstar or popular. All he wants to do is play baseball. As a teammate, he's the best you can have."
- Brady Anderson, USA Today...February 25, 2000

"Some people claim he's not great in the clubhouse and that he's selfish. . .To me, that's not correct. He was a hard-nosed player, and in many ways he was a real leader. A lot of people didn't see the good side of Albert."
- Chuck McElroy (former teammate), USA Today...March 14, 2001
I dont think you can find too many people who would stick up that much for Zambrano.

Everyone hates the Cubs? I'm sure there are some haters, especially within the division, but I wouldn't say everyone hates them. Certainly not like most hate the Yankees. I might be wrong. I think if they made a deep run in the playoffs, a lot of people would get behind them and route for them since it's been so long since they won it all, similar to what happened with Boston in 2004.
