I hate to say it, but Alderson showed up Bumgarner, big time

Still not a bad outing by Bum, but let's hope this doesn't keep happening..

Alderson: 6.2IP 0H 0R 0ER 1BB 10K

Bumgarner: 6IP 7H 1R 1ER 2K

I'm still impressed by both, but Alderson pitched much better and really looked much better than Bumgarner all around. Alderson looked every bit of the ace that Bumgarner is. I still say Bum>Aldy though.

Is this a joke? Showed him up bigtime? The guy pitched a great game but it's not like Bumgarner got shelled. He gave up one run!

I realize that both pitched great games, but Bumgarner is the Giants' number one prospect and was far outdone by Alderson.

Let's not forget a couple days ago Alderson was sporting a 4+ era in A ball in 5 games. No doubt he had a awesome AA debut the other night ,but Bumgarner is still the King of the castle.

The OP is simply pointing out that while Bumgarner pitched a very good game, Alderson pitched an incredible one. I don't see what's wrong with that.

Yeah, Bum's still King of the castle, doubtless. But I mean, if I didn't know any past stats, I'd say Alderson was king of the castle this week. I realize it was weak to compare him to Bumgarner..him compared to any other pitcher was belittling. lol.

Alderson debut the other night was just about one of the best starts all year by a pitcher in the minors. I can't wait to see how his 2nd outing goes.

Absolutely. He was seriousy nasty. If he can come back and do the same thing...he's going to wow some people.

Big time? Dude, you have to be kidding me? You are judging this based on one start and how many times did Bummy show up Alderson in High A? How many ER has Bum given up this year? A lot less than Alderson.

I wasn't going all-year. I was just basing it on performance for performance, strictly debut for debut.

I agree with the OP... Alderson struck out 10 and did not give up a hit while Bumgarner, at least according to the stats, looked like he labored through his innings, with 7 hits and only two strikeouts.
