I have a problem

I am currently working on penny sleeving and toploading (the cards that are worth toploading of course) app. 20,000 cards. After all are protected I plan on sorting them in monster boxes by last name and making them available to Player Collectors.

Also, scanning the front and back of all my Bagwell's...

I scare myself sometimes.

Not 20,000 but I recently took all of my McGwire cards out of binders and put them in penny sleeves and toploaders.

I thought about doing this with my Brett Hull collection. Already have it done with my McGee's. Do you put a label on the toploader back as to variations or parallels or anything?

I do. It helps with hard to notice variations. All my Bagwells are sorted by year and for the most part by brand. Though I have been lazy lately. I need to get a little more organized. Eventually I will have them sorted by my Beckett checklist so they will all be extremely easy to find.

I'm so anal about the condition of my card...holders.

It's pathetic.

I used to go through an insane amount of top loaders. The second one got even a tiny scratch I'd throw it away and replace it with a brand new one. Hell, when I bought a new pack of 25 top loads, I'd inspect each one to make sure they weren't scratched. I finally wisened up and started putting them in sealed team bags

...then I started replacing team bags when they got scuffed.

I have spent the last week breaking and sorting vending boxes of 1992 and 1993 Topps.After I had them sorted I began to pull a set for each year.I went card by card taking the nicest example for my set.I now have the 2 nicest sets of worthless cards.

Anyway please tell me some of you are as OCD as I am.

No I don't have labels on the toploaders. I plan on putting in dividers to separate each year though.

This is exactly what I've done. Spent way more than I've wanted to on toploaders but the end result is nice. I haven't labeled the backs (thanks for the idea I can hopefully get out of my head~!) But I have dividers for years as stated and my doubles are all at the end for now. That way if I have 2 cards that look the same I know there must be SOME variation and can consult my checklists. Hmm, that doesn't sound organized enough for those of us with this "condition"

I have all my Schillings in a binder, sorted by year and then alphabetical. So when I get a 2005 Absolute or Bowman I have to shift about 120 cards forward one space. Time consuming, that's for sure.

Why not leave spaces for the missing cards?That is what I do with my team sets.

Yikes. When I started my Cirillo collection I started with a binder and counted out through the Beckett checklist every 9 cards, and left blanks for ones I didn't have. Of course that checklist grew and I found new things to add and some cards were just too nice to put in pages so I ditched it. Go with the top loaders, you"ll be happier. Might as well rescan everything while you're at it :twisted:

Don't really feel like leaving 3000-4000 spaces...

Yeah, I probably will at some point. I already have all the numbered, game-used, auto, and refractor cards scanned so I'm content in that area.

You'd be better off not having them in a binder at all. Every time you have to shift you are handling the cards. No big deal on normal base but once you start doing the GU and foil cards...they will get messed up. Not to mention...once you get a lot of cards...they won't all fit in one binder. Hell...I have like 5 or so 3 row boxes full of Bagwells. I can't imagine how many binders that would take up.

I tried binders back when I was collecting basketball in middle school and I found out really quick just how hopeless it was. I ended up going to boxes in 2006. And leaving a space wouldn't cut it either like you posted because then you'd have a slew of spaces that may take years to fill. Then you have to make sure you put it in the right space and then to get to the next card you have to flip 30 blank pages etc, etc..
