I too would enjoy having the actual check BUT if given the opportunity for a cut card, I love when it's a check that's used. I think they look clean and you are more certain it's legit IMO.

As for what they do with the balance of the check... god knows... probably throw it away.

I have plenty of cancelled checks I plan to have custom cut cards made. But I plan on using more than just the cut signature.

First, you are wrong on the authentication front..

Second, he didn't state an opinion originally,... He stated they were fake as fact..

BG

I'm not sure what "authentication front" you're talking about. If someone deals in and has owned hundreds of examples of one particular signature, they are an expert.

Further, every message posted on a baseball card message board is opinion unless supported with fact. You cut the autographs out of magazines/magazine pages. You didn't see Gretzky sign them. You don't know for a fact that they are real or not. You rely on your expert, Warren is also an expert.

I didn't threaten.. I promised it if he continued to act irresponsibly/maliciously..

If you attempt to harm my company with lies, I will defend it..

Don't you have a phillies game to go watch? Don't take out their woes on me!

bg

How is discussing whether or not an autograph is real "irresponsible and malicious"? It's discussion of a product.

Harm your company with lies? You have an expert allegedly stating that they're real autographs (someone asked you to provide PSA's proof - you haven't yet). Warren's allstars is an expert saying that they're not. It's a difference of opinion, not a lie.

By the way, how are your multiple lawsuits going with Panini in regard to Prizm/atics, as well as the Crusade logo that you "borrowed" for Valiant? Don't take your woes out on me!

Cut autos were cool when they were of players/celebrities that were deceased. Now we have "buybacks" from a company that didn't make the original cards with stickers. Soon someone will cut those up and to make cut autos too.

That will continue as long as people buy into it.

The autographed stones were wacky but they were all stars & super stars.

How many times can you open a pack & many many times your bonus was a griffey/maddux/gwynn auto?

I just think of them as bonuses in those packs, regardless of what they were signed on.

Going great! Maybe more lawsuits to come!!! (You forget I sued panini on prizm, not the other way around)..

Jeff, we all know who and what you are... No need to keep showing it..

At the end if the day, the cuts are real.. You or warren can feel free to putup money and well ask JSA and PSA to look at them..

If you put up enough, I bet I can get Gretzky to look at them!

As always, you'll make a comment about betting, but there isn't a better way to expose a big mouth than tell him to put his money where his big mouth is..
Times must be tough there..

Why ask PSA to look again if they already did? Do you have the documentation or not?

So you don't.

Trying to make bets with people who knowingly have less money than you, to avoid showing them, just comes off as bullying and getting people to back off on questioning something further.

You were upset that someone made a statement that was baseless with no facts, yet you expect people to take you at your word with no facts?

I could care less either way if they're real or not but your own behavior when someone questions a product of yours does more harm to your name and company, in my eyes anyway, than someone on a message board not associated with the company.

" I personally consider myself pretty knowledgeable on Gretzky autos, since I've owned several hundred certified ones."

No. Owning "several hundred" UD autos signed from 2000-present in a controlled environment does not make you an expert in mid 80's in person and TTM signatures.

Warren is an expert in being a troll and a buffoon. Nothing else

My point is that people on message boards make false statements all the time with no repercussions, while collectors who don't know their antics are influenced by these malicious and/or uneducated opinions..

Rice , you are not stupid.. They are not "questioning" they are attempting to create harm with no fact behind statements..

If I said outback's steak was really horse and they were defrauding consumers and then posted this on message boards, what do you think outback would do?

If your answer is nothing, try it and I can assure you you'll be surprised quickly..

In the past, I have attempted to discuss this issues on the boards to remedy these sorts of activities without too much heavy handedness..

I guess that is no longer an option.
Ill handle it another way on your recommendation...

Thanks!

I am sure warren is a nice guy who is jaded because the hobby isn't the piece of cake business it uses to be..
I try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes... It's tough...

I'd rather have the entire cancelled check, especially if the signer filled out the rest of the check by hand. It's like owning a small part of someone's life when it's something such as a check to a trash collector or for membership to some obscure club. BTW, what happens to the rest of a check when they cut the sig out?

Or for nba checks, child support and repaying casinos for credit lines

Just a couple things....

1. I see ZERO reason LEAF could not, should not, or has not provided the PSA certification on these autographs. No one is saying he has to but if these autographs are being called in to question and he is sitting on the certification(s), it should be a simple and reasonable procedure to post said certification. Should he have to? Perhaps not, should he want to? I would!

2. With regards to LEAF threatening/promising legal action against forum members/collectors, I would LOVE to actually see this happen. Does BG not know that if this were ever to happen, even if he were in the right, the circus in the hobby media crucifying LEAF for 'attacking' collectors (on a message board) would kill his business? To think any other outcome would/could happen is fruitless. Now, I'm not saying BG should not take an interest in what is said about his product in a realm he frequents and relies on for business, but it is almost becoming comical the amount of times I can recall threats/promises of litigation towards hobby members, collectors, and participants in the hobby here alone.

BG, I like you and your product(s) for the most part but get real here, you are a smarter man then this. You know as well as I do you would never jeopardize your business by 'attacking collectors' (which is exactly how it would be spun/seen) if any legal action was taken against any forum members spewing truth or lies. And post up the certifications already, if you have them it should be a no brainer. Why take the 'test me, tough guy' attitude..? You have sold something some perhaps are now questioning, what do you think it would hurt by posting the certifications? Your ego?

On a side note related to my earlier post, I do not entirely mind cuts of checks if done well. However I would much prefer the actual check.

First of all, despite the title, this thread was a Tristar related thread. Trying to bash Leaf as a bonus is kind of weird.

As for Brian threatening a lawsuit, I think he should be careful saying that but at the same time he's also trying to let people know he is putting out a legit product. You may not like him or his products but at least he stands behind his stuff.

As for not posting the coa's, who cares. Topps doesn't even watch the athletes at times as some stickers are just sent back to topps, not watched. It doesn't mean that the autos are fake. But hey , at least his were PSA.

And Brian, I suggest you alphabetize your certain and put them in a fire proof file cabinet.
