The signatures are both from cam newton. The leaf, press pass, and other early ones were signed months earlier before he got used to massive signing sessions. What you see in the panini card is the result of practice.
Practice? Both auto's are ****. The first ones look like a 2 year old signed them six months ago. The Elite auto's look like a 2 and a half year old signed them.

Lackey's auto has changed a bit over the years but it has never resembled the Cueto.

guess I'm lucky that Canseco's sig has been very consistant from 86-present and he signs anything and everything. Very easy to spot a fake and no debate on real or fake.

I have a question for the legal eagles on the board. If a player's autograph is shown to be fake on a sticker, does the card manufacturer have any legal rights to go after the player? Breach of contract?

Topps threatened to sue Don Zimmer for it.

whats the story on this?

Never heard of it before now.

The form contract Topps uses for autos contains representations and warranties and indemnity language that is fairly standard in nearly all personal services agreements. Basically the player (or whomever Topps is acquiring the autographs and related rights from) makes the representation and warranty that the player will personally sign the cards/stickers/whatever in accordance with the contract, and the player agrees to indemnify and hold Topps harmless from any suits, claims, liabilities, costs and/or other expenses incurred by Topps in connection with a breach by the player of the player's reps and warranties (which obviously includes sending fake signatures).

Although Topps may have a long term incentive to not make a fuss about fake signatures with an individual player, in the event Topps was sued by someone (or a class of angry someones), Topps would likely enforce the indemnity clause against the breaching player for reimbursement of Topps' costs and expenses, which would likely include Topps' attorneys' fees and the amount(s) Topps pays out in fines, settlements, damages, and/or plaintiff's attorneys' fees and court/mediation costs.
