I want a Ripken autographed Topps Traded RC in my collection. I have a BGS 8 copy:

I want to crack it out of the BGS case and send it in to get autographed:

Part of the reason I want to do this is for money reasons. If I send in the copy I already have then I don't have to buy another one and try to send it in by the deadline. The other reason is that I don't mind only having the autographed version.

What would you folks do? Buy another? Send it in to get autographed and buy another one later to replace it?

Just curious,
Anthony

imo, i'd leave the slab as is and buy another copy in nm+ condition. also, i would much rather have the donruss rc signed. it is a cleaner looking card and the cardstock itself leads to a better sig quality.

Why would you need a regular one if you have an autographed one? That's why my 85 Puckett's say anyway...

Love your thinking. Wish I was home to do the same thing. Dang.
How much is the charge for card signings? Didn't see it?

I'd say crack the slab and get it sent in. Must be there 1 week prior to signing it says.
Good luck and show off that sucker when you get it back.

Would have loved it to have been in blue (and i'm looking for a blue signed one), but this is what he gave me...

Very nice!!!

I use to have one, but when I was starting off on ebay, selling stuff here and there, I had a Kirby bobble up, didnt sell the first time around. So I added in the 85 Topps and Fleer cards that I had signed by him as a kid. Looking back, BIG mistake!!! Needless to say, this was before he passed away.

I'd crack it open and get it signed. It's just a XRC anyway and not a true RC. If you want to get it signed, then get it signed.
