I bought a very lightly used high quality catchers mitt on ebay and it came today.

I opened the box and BAM! Within 5 seconds I was coughing like crazy because not only the box, but the glove seemed to have come from a very heavy smoker.

I log onto ebay to contact him about it and see that it says "NO RETURNS ACCEPTED"

Great. It said no where in the description that it comes from a HEAVY home.

I will forever appreciate when sellers say "from a smoke free home"

Any helpful advice would be extremely appreciated!

i've actually had two cards and toploders in the past 6 months arrive stinking like cigarettes, just gross, I wiped the cards down and they had a brown film, some people must smoke a lot!

I quit smoking many years ago, so I know what both sides of the topic are like. Now, as a non smoker, I will return items and expect a full refund if they come stinking like cigarette smoke. It's totally disgusting. When selling something on Ebay or Craigslist, I always add that the item is coming from a smoke free home.

I have heard that you should put the item (glove) in an open box with a small cup or bowl full of Febreze next to it. Supposedly, that sucks up the smoke smell. Might also put an open container of baking soda next to it.

The simplest would be Kevin's (pinbreaker's) idea: just put it in an out of the way area and let the smoke drift away. :)

I hesitate to purchase from one of the major wax dealers in the country because when I receive their cases, they smell like tobacco and stink up my closet.

What if the card reaked of something other than cigarette smoke? Are you allowed to return that too?

"sorry sir, the cards you sent me smell very strongly of curry and coriander. I hate ethnic food, and expect a full refund"

I smoke outside, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of my stuff smells like smoke. My clothes smell like smoke, so maybe they'd get it on the cards.

Either way, if someone complained about the smell of a card, I'd probably tell them to eat it. Hell, half the cards in my collect smell like mold anyways.

Not sure if it has helped my sales, but I always mention that everything I sell on ebay (or half.com) comes from a smoke-free home. I know I prefer receiving smokeless items when I buy stuff.

Put some really good smelling shaving cream on it. I get some girls shaving cream in a pink bottle with white letters. makes the glove smell amazing! :D

I have received a few cards and items from smokers houses and found it absolutely disgusting. Good luck getting the scent out or getting your refund.

Spray some Axe on it. The ladies love it. Nothing like hot babes wanting to check out your glove.
