Also, it'd be pretty hard to dodge the IRS when they come knocking about the phantom $16k deposit you made.

That is why I avoid banks. I keep my money hidden in safes at 4 different homes in 4 different cities. I almost never use banks.

This is one of the most overly paranoid things I have ever heard.

Still get the 50 waived. Should be easy to do. Get free listings forever too. Negotiate something. eBay is going to make a lot off of this pub.

It is important to remember that eBay fees max out at $50.

High dollar sales are one of the few things that were helped by eBay's new fee policy.

But paypal fees on a $16,000 sale would be almost $500.

I don't know the best way to pay for something like this, but I'm assuming it isn't paypal...so those fees will likely be avoided anyway.

$50 fee on a $16,000+ sale is pretty darn good.

Something that big, I would want a certified bank (not personal) check/money order.

I would drive or fly to the buyer's house/business. I would try like hell to do the sale outside of Ebay too.

I'm pretty sure that you can avoid a big tax hit by claiming costs associated with acquiring your merchandise. It's like how gambling losses can be written off; you can probably claim the cost of all the wax you bust against the total price of this sale.
So go buy a bunch of wax and write all of it off so you don't get killed on the taxes.

I bust alot of wax and end up losing money 99% of the time, so I am pretty sure even with this big hit I am not making alot of profit on the year per say

As long as you save receipts or Credit card billing statements I think you'll be in good shape.

I think the seller should agree to buy you a plane ticket (good faith) and you should go pick up payment. I would ask for $20 in a non-nondescript suitcase.. OH wait.. been watching too many movies!! :D

With all the hype this card has received and the high price it will sell for could you see Topps putting the OP in Ginter next year as a champion? I mean he did pull the golden ticket.

Your auction was on Bloomberg News earlier today (they talk about stock's, bond's, etc. & then bring up this huge card on Ebay of the hottest new phenom that's at $16,000+)....Was pretty cool to see. :D

Actually the golden ticket is supposedly still unpulled (Strasburg Red Auto 1/1)...This is close but inevitably it is probably just setting the stage for what is to come in the future once the Red 1/1 Auto is pulled & for sell. :D

It depends on when the red is pulled and how he is performing at the time. If he comes out of the gates hot and the card hits the market at the right time it could sell higher. But the hype on this card is unreal and I think most will recognize the Chrome as the top card even if it isn't an auto.
