I dont get it, there were other cards also off center, but they werent marked OC. Why?

There seems to be a +/- on how off center they can be before they are considered O/C

The lower the grade the more off center they are allowed to be. So if you get a 5 its allowed to be more off center than say a 6 or so on.

Ahh, so since it was conditioned as an 8, they had to make note of the oc, but the 5's and such doesnt require the oc. got it!

Serious question. Is there a point where an individual should get any vintage graded, regardless of condition? I know the player dictates a lot of that. I have some cards from the 50s in various conditions and want to know if it would be wise to get any/some/all graded.

I'm 32 and have been collecting since I could crawl. I'm a little different than most collectors my age b/c I only ever really collected vintage. I wanted to be included in the conversations my dad and his friends/other dealer buddies had about the players and the cards. I never sent anything in until recently b/c I thought their standards might be too high. I was surprised. If its for your PC I say go for it. But to warn you, unless you send bulk it can be very expensive. It might be cheaper to find low graded cards that you want on eBay and other forums. IMHO there is absolutely nothing wrong with raw cards. I hope that helps.

Let me clarify what I meant. I know most modern is only worth grading if it will get a 9 or 9.5. What's is the acceptable grade for older cards?

If it is Pre War, it doesn't matter. Post War up to 69, I'd say even a 5 or 6 is worth it.

Nice. Next question: are the grading criteria for vintage the same as modern? Meaning a vintage and modern card both have the same flaws, will they both grade the same?

I believe same rules apply.
