What a waste of 1700.00 for a card of a lineman.
Cool looking card no doubt though.

there are worse players to spend that money on

Maybe a punter or kicker.
He's still a lineman and its still a waste, but if you have money to burn, why not?

I mean if its his favorite player its his favorite player. However I think the card is kinda ugly tho.

The buyer id has the word Huskers in it. Maybe someone bought this card for what Suh has already done. Maybe thats why all of his card prices are as they are.

Was it HiFiveAHusker, by any chance? If so, I'm guessing it will be back up and listed with an $8000 BIN.

Take your statement, make it the exact polar opposite, and you have my feelings about them. Love that card, and love the 2010 RPA's.

But like Dick Clark said, "Different strokes for different folks."

When I think of greatness, DLineman dont even register. Maybe thats my own bias coming through.
As I said before, the best DLineman in history shouldnt have a card that sells for that much, but Nebraska fans are diehards and I am sure its going into a good collection.

Are you serious? Imagine if Reggie White had a RPA 1/1.

And if Joe Montana had one or Barry Sanders, or Jerry Rice...White wouldnt even be on the same playing field price wise.

real football is won and lost in the trenches

Mike Webster, whom many believe was second behind Greene on those Steeler teams of the 70's, considered one of the greateset if not greatest centers to ever play, has a short printed RC in an era where no HOF rookies were short printed (1977 Mexican) and has basically one real inserted autograph (the upper deck legends were never in packs and mostly faked) and he can't get hobby love.

Lets see.
One of the greatest ever- Check
Short printed rookie card- Check
Very limited autograph supply- Check
Played for a team with a rabid fan base- Check
Won multiple SB's- Check

All of this should add up (if linemen were popular) to a guy where his 1977 Topps Mexican RC would be worth close to 1K in PSA 8 and his Topps certified autos 300+. Heck you can get his regular Topps RC in PSA 9 sometimes under 150 bucks and it is in the most competitive PSA registry set of all time.

You can't compare an offensive lineman to a defensive lineman in the hobby, it's pointless.

man it is crazy the envy that comes out when someone has a nice sale or pays a ton for a pc card.
I personally think the card sold a little high but who cares man... What was gilmo suppose to do even if he thought it did. Message the guy and talk him down

On the baseball side the guy with the bryce super was harrassed constantly

Envy breeds hate

Unless a defensive lineman can do something that can be counted up like sack totals nobody will care in 3 years anyway. Nobody cares about tackles or how often your double teamed.

Also he said trenches, and both offensive and defensive players play in the trenches. And Webster is an exteme case for offensive lineman in general, as if he can't get hobby love, then no offensive lineman will. That doesn't bode well for a DL as they aren't much higher up in the NFL food chain of popularity.

FTR if Webster had an exquisite 1/1 logo of any kind it would fetch 1700. I would pay that myself. Totally two different animals and eras of cards. Not apple to apples

Agreed. I used to collect mostly football in the 90s, and more than any other sport position matters most. If you're not a QB or RB it doesn't matter. You can be the greatest ever, and people still want the QB. Even WRs get shafted some in the hobby. They are the 3rd most collected, but still don't command the prices they could if they were a QB or RB.

I think if Suh keeps putting up sacks and TFLs, he will hold rather well. It is not just about position, but popularity. He is a fan favorite at Nebraska and seemingly one now in Detroit.

So because I think it was a ridiculous price for a card of him, I'm envious? Stop being retarded. People have opinions that are based on their personal feelings and nothing more. I'm glad Chris made a good sale. happy for the original owner too. I don't see anyone being envious or throwing hate. Maybe you need to get out more and realize there's more to life than the internet.
