I dont get why Goudey boxes go way down in price, they have quite a few Royalty autos that fetch tons of $$$.

I also think several of the "high end" Tiger collectors are frankly loaded. It's almost as if money is no object, and that it's more of a status symbol for these guys. They probably golf and have good paying jobs, and love Tiger's potential.

I think Goudey is one of the best examples of hit or miss, you will get $5-$10 back on your box, of hit a $5000 Tiger auto, of which only 5 exist. This is worse than Willy Wonka, cause at least you get to eat some chocolate!

Exactly. I'd be scanning it through a fireproof, airtight safe.

I was only saying, because Warren used his Jordan sale as a reference point for this auction. You can't compare the two.

Looks like you got me, i humbly admit my mistake...wow!

Hmm...maybe they should put chocolate in the packs.

Didn't they have those griffey bars about twenty years ago? I know people who kept the wrappers, and i'm sure there are folks here that still have the whole bar, but I wouldn't recommend eating those!

Man, I just checked and the card is up another grand today. Why don't these guys just wait till the last day and say winner takes all- they are shilling each other up to the stratosphere.

[quote="Warren's All Stars":144rhjjf]I have to wonder if that auction is legit. New seller & all.

To put things in perspective, I just sold the Michael Jordan from the set, on the eve of his HOF induction, for 650

If you look at other Tiger sales, this one is not that crazy. I don't Jordan sells anywhere near what Tiger sells for.
His Exquisite jersey auto sold for like $25k.[/quote:144rhjjf]

Do you know which exquiste sold for that much? Was it on ebay? What was the serial number on the card?

I thought I had heard that a little while back. I might have it swapped with another one.

Nope, I'm pretty sure the 1/1 got around $24, 800 supposedly after the auction ended.

Here is the auction [ebay:32uh2m8p]310166199420[/ebay:32uh2m8p]

But it got zero bids. That's strange. Did the seller tell you it sold for that much?

That's an insane price for someone who is still alive, it's even more than a George Washington cut auto!!

Anyone got a link to that Timex Social Club video?

If they have a scanner like mine, it would never take a nice clear scan if it is in a one touch or anything thick for that matter. And I have a newer scanner as well. I would have put it in a top loader at least and then transferred it over to something more rigid.

Potential buyers would want to see an unadulterated/unhindered scan of the card, this is frequently requested by buyers off-line so you can get a truer idea about condition. Even a toploader could mask potential flaws, unless you really had a top quality scanner. Regardless, when I am thinking about purchasing a card at shows, I always take the card out of the holder, period, before I purchase, especially if it is worth ten-thousand dollars.
