I think the ROY will be a pitcher. If the season ended today, I would give it to Niemann. But Porcello is close.

I will give Porcello the Beat Down on Youkilis award. I still can't believe Youkilis got thrown to the ground by a thin drink of water like Porcello. Youkilis is a ***** - it can't be stressed enough.

I think Andrew Bailey might be able to steal some votes also.
6-3, 23 saves, .94 WHIP, 2.06 ERA, 79Ks in 74 IP

I agree. I think, like the CY, it's going to come down to wins. Whoever ends up with more is going to win it. In no way am I claiming it's right, but that's how the voters like to vote most of the time.

This is basically what I said in my blog article... I feel that if ANY rookie pitcher reaches 15 wins and none of the others do, then that pitcher will win the ROY regardless of his other numbers (within reason).

and another thing, its they like to vote for who has the BUZZ. there have been so many bad calls in baseball voting because of this. if its even close at the end porc should win it.

For the record, I've tried hard lately not to be biased.

But This is how I feel too. If the stats are close, then it could go to Porcello for a number of reasons:
1. He has been hot lately
2. He is only 20 (this should have NOTHING to do with deciding who wins the award, but it's just more hype for Porcello)
3. He is the only one playing on a playoff team, and has been a big part of getting that team in position to win the division with solid pitching all year.

ROY is way different from MVP. The caliber of the team should have NOTHING to do with it. Niemann has been better than Porcello, simple as that.

Like I said, if the final stats are close, then those things may come into play.

I personally agree with you that caliber of team should have nothing to do with the ROY award, but I also feel that it should have nothing to do with the MVP award.

As good as Niemann has been, this race is far from over at this time. And let's not forget about Ricky Romero either.

I personally think after his past few starts that Romero is out of it now. He'll have to throw a shutout or two...

It's all on my blog, but I feel that whichever of those three guys wins the most games (especially if one gets to 15) that they will be the winner.

This is really a great race. Lots of fun to follow.

Yeah, he's got similar numbers to what Huston Street had. There are lots of strong candidates this year, it'll be interesting to see.

Definitely, I really think that they'll end up choosing a starting pitcher simply because I think one of the three will get to 15 wins.

But we have 3 SPs that have been great all year, a RP that has been as good as any reliever in baseball, and at least 2 deserving position players. I think a few of these guys might fall off down the stretch, but at this point, you can argue for all 6 of them.

i think it's even a more heated race in the NL with Jones, Happ, Hanson, and McCutchen...with a sprinkle of Coghlan, Wells and Parra.

yeah, being on a playoff team shouldnt have an outcome...

but could you imagine being a rookie and having to pitch your team into the playoffs? all that added pressure thats never been around before. while it should be the deciding factor, it is a big deal if he doesnt crack
