Let me rephrase the title. I just do not understand the people Buying these cards from you prospectors. So what are their Stephen Strasburg, Mike Trout,Bryce Harper ETC..ETC.. Worth now? How about Albert Pujols cards, sure they have taken a huge DUMP.

These prices to me are a HUGE JOKE,Sure its "their" money BUT.......Just the numskull of it all.

I do not now, nor do I ever want to, understand those who pick fights with those who choose to buy/sell a certain type of baseball card. Last time I checked, no one created a thread to bash those who buy/sell deceased players, as well as those who buy cards depicting dogs in their signatures.

Those cards listed likely came from guys who busted cases or selling on consignment, not prospectors. I don't think any of those cards were purchased specifically for re-sale. I also believe that some buyers with deep pockets couldn't care less about depreciation.

Sounds like you got burned a few times. Besides I did not buy a card of my dog it was made free of charge. People that pay that kind of cash on an unproven player need to be BASHED! Its called tuff love. A wake up and smell the coffee type of thing.

Thank you. You could be right on about that. That helps me understand more.

People buy and collect what they like. I do complete sets, I'm sure there are plenty of people who think it's crazy that I want hundreds and thousands of cards of guys who were never any good. They don't complain about me, I don't complain about them. To each his or her own.

what about people who paid good money for a 2001 Pujols Chrome auto when they were $5K? He's been a "proven" player since day 1. You can pick them up for a fraction of the price now. Look at Griffey UD rookies... i remember selling them back in the day for $100 or so, now you can get them for nothing. Card values are like the stock market, up one day, and down the next.

If a man wants to spend their hard earned money on a $2,000 Big Mac or $5,000 for a golden fart why should I care if they don't care?

The 2001 BC Auto Pujols has always been a controversial card with them being hand serial #ed in pen. I think there's at least 4 diff. copies floating around out there serial #/ed 5/500.

Over 90% of people fall into one of these 3 categories:

1. People who only collect.

2. People who only sell to those that collect.

3. People who have to sell in order to collect.

Its always interesting to consider who enjoys cards the most, and who enjoys making money the most. Collectors need to know this to keep from overpaying. Sellers need to know this in order to maximize their profits. Noobs are easy prey to those looking to maximize profit.

Understanding who is in the hobby and what people are doing in the hobby is something that never gets old.

Prospecting isn't a big deal. I even tried it once just so I could see what all of the fuss is about. I actually made a (very, very, VERY) minimal profit. I did not have the patience, mainly because I wanted to get rid of the cards before I decided to keep them and start a collection.

The pimp & dump is what bothers me. That's what gets XXXXing annoying. Having a post for every god damn at bat or pitch thrown to try and maximize profit. Get the XXXX out of here. I don't want to drop a dime, but I know for fact you have a place to do that bullXXXX without flooding the baseball forum with it.

*EDIT* Before someone gets pissed, I'm not aiming that or directing that at anyone specific. I'm not trying to start anything or pick on anyone. I'm also not talking about the general prospect threads. When someone is trying to pump someone up to try and cash in, it's pretty obvious.
