meaning.. the hobby hype, busts etc.

If we could go back to the early 90's examples being Frank Thomas Score rookie, Leaf rookie etc, Alex Fernandez coming out of JUCO, (similar to Harper), Albert/Joey Belle "fan friendly" attitude.. how would much would Bowman cards be of them today.. meaning.. if you took the "hot" players from the early 90's and transposed them into todays current market.. wonder what their cards would sell for on ebay.. (man I need to stop drinking so many beers at a Braves game.. I get all philosophic).

Or, even the "rare" inserts.

They are still hot, but how much more so would they be given the prevalence of eBay?

Yes the rare inserts are a much more apt comparison, FYs and rookies weren't nearly as popular as inserts then. Take a look at a Beckett from about May 1998 for reference to this question and check out BVs. I think every $50 box had an insert with a BV of at least $50. Everything seems to cycle.

I wish we would like to go back to one chase insert, none of this same card different finish/color business. I mean how many refractors are there when you count all of the colors. Yes, I know this would be less hits per box, oh well.

Fleer Rookie Sensations was not only a brilliantly conceived chase card it was also a beautifully designed set. And the Frank Thomas card is and always will be DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, a baseball card that utterly epitomizes Frank Thomas, and the hobby the way it was in the early 90's. I buy these all day long when I can get em for a buck or two, make me feel like I'm stealing and I LOVE the feeling of gettin something for nuthin!! Whoo hoo Fleer Rookie Sensations!!!
