What's going on? Just checked my fantasy team and it was the first time I saw he was hitting ~.250.

His current BA is 51 points lower than his lowest season's BA.

Thoughts?

I saw that the other day. Maybe injury, maybe age, but it's more likely just a massive, month-long slump that happens occasionally to every player. He hit something like .330 in April, so I am inclined to think he'll come out of it sooner or later. I hope he's able to continue his 200-hit-season-streak.

Yep, in a pretty massive slump, 3 for last 29 over his last 7 games. And even though Seattle isn't awful this year, there is really no reason to pitch to him considering who else is in that lineup, so he's probably not seeing great pitches either.

ive been noticing it for a few weeks when his avg was tumbling, hits were far and few and such..

age prob is catching up to him, of course but it seems like his sb is still up there as well as not striking out much either this year. his walk to k ratio is almost 1:1 which is very good

at this rate, he's projection is about 175 hits for the year but i still believe he'll go over 200 hits. however, i do not think he can hit over .300 by the end of the year...hope im very wrong!

Much like other foreigners, he lied about his age

Don't fault him for hitting .252 as a 37 year old, applaud him for hitting .252 as a 55 year old

Trade him for a 3rd Baseman. Or drop him down to fourth in the lineup, let him DH, call up Ackley, Ackley, Halman/Guti, Peguero OF.

Media have verified that he in fact was born in 1973

I don't know, I wouldn't necessarily say it's age. The shape that he is in, combined with his style of play seems to point towards a slump more than anything. He's still stealing bases, and speed is usually the first to go.

Well, after he read this post, ichiro said "&$@% you jobu" and has hit 2,2,2,2,2,3(and counting) since the 11th.

My man, brought his avg up to .275!

Here's an ichiro I've never showed in his honor

That is sweet. I miss having Ichiro autos in products, but I guess that's what keeps it's value high.

He's had 76 hits in 283 AB this year. In the next 283 AB he needs to make 94 hits to bring his average up to .300, or a 23% improvement in how he's currently hitting. We'll see at the break how far behind he is to hit 0.300 / 200 hits but right now its still doable.
