Idea for Bowman parallels. Yay or nay?

I pulled a Chuck Liddell auto from prominent cuts that is the /50 version. The card looks just like his base auto, but the pic of him is slightly different.

This got me wondering, would each color of the bowman chrome rainbow be better if each one was a totally different pic of the player? Personally, I think this would be cool, especially when searching for the rarer parallels.

Opinions? Just an idea.

That would be far better for the collectors, thus Topps will not do it.

I personally think the best thing Topps could possibly do would be to eliminate all borders from their cards. Different photos aren't a priority for me.

The cards technically wouldn't be parallels if different photos were used, they'd be variations. But I think its a good idea in addition to parallels.

Yeah, I like the idea of a variation, just not necessarily on the traditional parallels to which we have grown accustomed. A lot of the guys have portrait shots (i.e not game photos) so it would be neat to have an action shot variation. This could add a little excitement to the base Bowman cards at least.

You could also do something like a minor league uniform variation or a college/high school uniform variation. I know that'll never happen because of all kinds of licensing issues and brand confusion issues, but I think it would be a neat thing.

It's a great idea, but would be far too costly. Let's say they did 5 different photos, that would be like multiplying their printing costs by 5 because of 5 plates for each card and what not.

The cost of the different plates wouldn't be a problem compared to the cost of buying rights for 5 different photos, then making sure the right photos were used in the right color parallel, etc. More of a logistical problem that card companies seem increasingly incapable of handling.

I don't particularly care for the idea. I like parallels to be parallels. When you put together a rainbow, they look cool all identical. Unless you somehow put together a sequence of photos, like a hitter swinging or a 2B turning a double-play or something. Like take one of the old Screenplay cards and break it down into the individual pics for each parallel. That actually could be appealing as a limited subset or something, but not as the traditional series of parallels.

No one is more anti-sticker than me, but if that's all that's available it works for me. Personally, I like the design of the Liddell card.

Great that would mean 5 times as many "1 of 1"'s for Topps to make.

I think that historically the market has shown that rare varieties of rookie cards do not sell as well when it is a different version or card. I think that many people have a hard time viewing it as a rookie card when the card looks different than the base card.

It would be far too costly for all the reasons mentioned previously. Plus, I think the market would react poorly if the "variations" didn't look like the base RC.
