I get what people are saying about not wanting a stranger coming to the house but then this is why people communicate. Such as "Hey, I'll just meet you at the (insert place)". Hell, the guy lives in an apartment building, he could just run downstairs to the parking lot.

Oh well, I'll just charge him the s/h and mail it off.

I wouldn't want to meet another person involved in cards. Most of them are losers.

Says the guy who puts the word "owned" in his avatar.

How hard is it folks to say meet at a Target or Best Buy parking lot.
Hey, I drive this kinda car, what do you drive?

Hahaha sounds like a drug deal

J/K ive actually done just that with about 5 sellers from Ebay over the years. One time, one of the sellers i met up with turned out to be an old High School friend (hadn't seen each other in about 10+ years and neither one of us knew the other collected cards) and ever since that ebay meet up in a Tim Hortons parking lot at 11PM, we have continued being friends and we still regularly meet up to sell/trade cards or attend card shows.

Pretty neat story!

In the 13 years I've been on ebay, I've only met up twice with people. Once as a seller and once as a buyer. I drove a little over an hour to drop off a couple of Sox/O's tix back about 9 years ago. I couldn't go to the game and the buyer and I were paranoid about the tix getting to them in time so we met up.

The time I won was again 9-10 years ago when I purchased a 200 count lot of '52 Topps baseball. The guy offered to drive an hour and met me in a commuter lot. He was an old timer parting with his collection. He was worried about sending them through the mail so we just met up. Great guy with some stories. I purchased the lot to break and sell though, didn't have the heart to tell him that was my plan.

Did it one time to be exact, and only because it's the only time I bought some cards from someone who lived close enough. I'd do it again. Gave each other cell phones, sounded like a decent guy, met the guy at a gas station, saved a few bucks shipping, done deal. But I understand about some not feeling comfortable with it. I just happen to not be freaked out about meeting a stranger.

If it 's one of those hot " I am selling my ex boyfriends stuff" auctions then I might consider it. ;)

I have no problem meeting up in a public area but until I get to know the person, I really don't want them coming to the house.

I meet strange men in parking lots at 5AM all the time so it would be no big deal to me.*

"Yeah, I bought all that I could at this bank, and then I got the rest of it from this guy named Ralph in an alley. And the sweet thing is, the stupid ******* didn't even charge me money for it, he just made me close my eyes and suck it out of a hose."

When I sold off the majority of my childhood collection I parted it out in large lots lots on eBay. I had a guy from about an hour away from me win three lots. He asked if he could pick them up and I just had him meet me at my work. It worked well for me since I didn't have to lug that crap to the post office.

, don't say anything, walk backwards to your vehicle, go back home and mail the cards.

In my few years of coaching high school ball, this was one of my duties as well.

An anthropophobiac who collects pictures of people? That's like a person with ancraophobia collecting pictures of spiders. Perhaps you jest.

I'm anthropophobic so I would probably either tell them that they could drop it off in the mailbox if they'd like or put it under the doormat, or I would just ignore them and let them ship it to me. Like someone said above, you probably aren't creepy and want to linger forever talking about cards, but I would be nervous that the person would want to and that freaks me out.

I once had a guy show up at my house unannounced to drop off some cards I won on eBay after I had already paid with Paypal. He kept the S&H funds too... :benson:

I've done it a couple times, just meeting at the local show and take care of it there. And once it turned out to be a guy I knew, just didn't know he had a new eBay account.
