If Arod goes to Miami, do you start Jeter at 3rd?

Am thinking if we are lucky enough to move Arod do you think it's time to move Jeter to 3rd? Even before the injury Jeter's mobility was pretty limited. He still has great hands and is great on charging balls but his lateral movement is pretty bad. I'd love to give Nunez a shot at ss, although I know that's risky given this years problems with errors but still think he can be a great short stop if given the opportunity. Only question is do you think Jeter would be ok with the move?

How old was Ripken when he made the move? I know Jeter will probably fight it but really think it's time.

I don't know. To me it seemed there were more than just a few games where there were balls hit to the left or right of him that I thought a younger ss would have gotten to. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge Jeter fan and in terms of having sure hands and accurate throws he's great. Just think he can't cover the ground he used to.

Th problem with Arods contract is the bonus clauses for home run milestones — $6 million each for 660, 714, 755, 762 and 763 . They cant be bought out and its possible 755, 762, and 763 happen all in one year.

If anything, I see Jeter going to the OF. I think next season will be a transitional one for Jeter.

I think the Yankees would owe AROD $114 million in salary. The problem is that no team will take that on and that's one hell of a nut to pay off, no matter who they get in exchange.

Jeter will have to play DH the rest of his career. How can he play in the field again if that senior citizen can't make a routine play at short without breaking his ankle?

I agree, Eduardo "Scissorhands" Nunez would get to the balls that Jeter wouldn't, and would proceed to throw them 20 rows deep.

Jeters lack of speed has allowed him to make routine plays looks difficult. I'm no fan of him as a defender and think he's been overrated for 10 years.

I thought he would have moved to first or third when they brought arod over. In my opinion arod was and still would be a superior defender compared to jeter as a SS.

I would agree with you 4 years ago. However, I believe AROD is afraid to play as hard as he can/should now for fear of getting seriously injured. He is the real world Roger Dorn

No team would be willing to snag that contract from the Yanks.

Agreed, the Cubs said this about Alfonso Soriano, and guess what, Soriano is BETTER THAN A-ROD right now. 3rd in the league in RBI's, 1 error all year in left field. It just isn't that easy to move these guys, not matter how much you want to.
