Geinke has been the best pitcher this year, but if CC wins 20 more games that should get him a few more 1st place votes. I know people would argue that is Zach was on the Yankees he would win 20, too. Either way I think it will be closer than people think.

It will be close but Grienke's has been the underdog story and will the CY Young based on numbers other than wins

CC is currently first on the Cy predictor. It would be stupid if he won, but being the only 20 game winner would be enticing to the voters. Even though CC plays for the best team in baseball, and Zach is putting up amazing numbers for one of the worst teams. Zach has CC beat in every category except wins and IP.

CC got HOSED last year, so that might weigh on some voter's minds.

I don't think he'll win. He'll probably finish top 3, but, IMO, Grienke and King Felix should finish 1-2.

With all of the pitchers that the Royals have, Greinke accounts for (just about) 25% of the team's wins this season.

I think will be alot closer then people think. CC might just win it but the next start for #20 is important. If he doesn't get 20 he will finish second or third. Voters will notice he has been lights out down the stretch in a very competitive AL East.

Exactly...15 wins just doesn't look sexy enough. If Zach had 17 I would like his changes a lot more (that's how screwed up this system is).

In 2007, Beckett had 20 wins, but Sabathia won the CY with 19.
Close enough...

It will be a crime if Greinke doesn't get the Cy this year. He pitched his ass off.

Here's a VERY glaring stat:

Sabathia ERA+ 139
Greinke ERA+ 210

That's not even close.

I'd estimate that approximately 2% of the voters even know what ERA+ is.

Then what about ACTUAL ERA:

2.08 vs. 3.31

What about ACTUAL WHIP:

1.06 vs. 1.13

What about ACTUAL Strikeouts:

229 vs. 186

What about CG and SHO

6/3 vs. 2/1

Other than Wins....someone please find me any stat where CC is CLOSE to Greinke. If you think that 20 wins should be a "lock" for Cy Young, or if Wins themselves should be the #1 factor, then I guess Scott Feldman and his 17 wins and 3.90 ERA and 1.26 WHIP should just be blowing Greinke out of the water.

Put Greinke and the Yankees and he's got over 20 wins by now.

CC should not even be in the discussion with Greinke and Felix...but of course, he's a Yankee and YANKEES RULE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Other stats matter. Look at last year's NL CY Young race. Lincecum vs. Webb (I know lincecum that year had a couple more winw on greinke)

There is no way CC should even be close to Greinke in the voting.

The thing that I find to be amazing about this is that Greinke's ERA is over a full run lower than Sabathia's. Greinke could actually end the season with an ERA under 2.00 which is flat out unbelievable.

Those might be my favorite Bowman Chrome parallels ever. Too bad so many have terrible centering.
