Typically, "rumors" have a factual basis...this has none.

Also, I'm not sure why the idea of him "only [playing] there 3-5 years" wouldn't be crazy. He has played the position 0 innings in the last 7 seasons. Whether or not it's "crazy", it's highly unlikely.

Any while they could trade him, they would have to pay probably at least $10 million/yr to take on his contract in a trade. So let me ask you, why in the world would they basically pay $40 million/yr for Pujols during the duration of Teixeira's contract?

What I'd like for you to do is to write a blog entry to showcase your journalistic skills and here is the topic...

A complete and logical look at Albert Pujols signing with the Yankees as a free agent.

It will require thoughtful critical analysis of statistics, finances, projection, probability, impact, etc.

No, not probable.

Unless Pujols becomes a starting pitcher, the Yankees have no use for him. Anyone projecting "if Pujols goes to the Yankees..." is just looking to stir the pot but not add any substance.

The entire concept of putting Teixeira at 3rd, ARod as DH and Pujols at 1st is grasping at straws. While we're making crazy discussion, they'll probably have to move Jesus Montero to 2B and Robinson Cano behind the plate, right?

its not crazy, Tex did play third 15 games in Texas...Arod moved from shortstop....also cashman has said before that he would look into pujols he hit free agency.
So, you don't think it's "crazy" to shift Teixeira over to 3rd because of his vast 15 games of MLB experience at the position when he was 23? I mean you're right I guess, it's easy to assume that a 32 year old (Teixeira's age at Opening Day in 2012) would be able to completely shift corners of the infield when he'll be on the slowdown physically.

As for Cashman saying that he'd look into Albert Pujols, he (like every GM) considers every free agent.

Outside of the question to bait discussion, where did you read this?

well Tex would only play there for 3-5 years which isn't crazy, or they could also trade Tex...who knows and I have no idea I saw it somewhere as a rumor.[/quote:30biumc4]

Yes, that is crazy. In fact, it may be the definition of crazy.

3-5 years because then at 36 or 37 he's a free agent and the Yankees will let him walk.

I read somewhere that if Pujols signed with the Yankees he'd play first, Arod would dh and Tex would play third. Does anyone else think it's possible?

Sounds like a typical proposal from a fan calling into WFAN in New York.

there is not a 1st baseman on any team in any galaxy in any realm of existence that could keep pujols from playing first. even if we traveled through time using one of telsas rotating current time traveling machines and mixed the dna from stan musial, lou gehrig, and jesus in a 7 speed hamilton beach blender then used telekinesis to inject it into the womb of mother teresa could you have a **** block for 5.

Unless Alberto wants to join the Phillies, and we might have a spot open in the outfield, then he is playing for
second place. What good is that?

I think Tex can, especially when the Yankees cant move him anyway.

If he goes anywhere but back to St. Louis, I think he should hold his own hour long ESPN special press conference where he anounces that "he's taking his talents to ___________ ." Then he should talk about all the World Series they'll be winning in the coming years...not 1, not 2, not 3, etc. That way, Cardinals fans can really feel that knife twist instead of only feeling sadness and regret that arguably the best player ever has left them.

Sorry for derailing the thread a bit. I'll clarify my position. I have no problem with Lebron leaving the Cavs and I'd have no problem if Pujols left the Cardinals. Granted I don't really have any attachment to either player or team. Professional sports is a business and I understand and am fine with that. However, the rediculous circus way that Lebron left Cleveland was classless in my opinion. It was a slap in the face to a town and a state that loved him and had given him all they could. If Pujols joins another team next year, I hope it's not in the same fashion as Lebron. In my opinion, if you're going to move on, then be gracious and move on. There's no need for the spectacle.

thats my point tex is at an income level where he is difficult to cut loose. you couple that with the .087 marky mark is going to launch the season with... now you can pay pujols any amount of money and there will be suitors. pujols is a player whose skill set transcends generations as to tex who is just good for the era. so in my opinion tex would have to move if albert is inked. however all this jibba jabba is moot since five is going to beantown! red sox represent!

The Red sox also have nowhere to put him, I suppose they could cut ortiz lose. But the Red Sox dont sign players to long term contracts. There is no way they sign him for 10 years.

I don't know why anyone believes the Yankees would NOT pursue Albert if he was a FA. It's the Yankees. If I was an owner with the money they have, I would pursue the best player of this generation...why not? Who cares how you fit him in? And the Sox could get in the bidding war just to drive up the Yanks price. Montero would be a great trading chip in that case (Arod being their DH for the next 7 or 8 years) for a young pitcher that they will drastically need to pitch in front of that 1,000 run offense.

BUT what do they do with Posada - He is the DH

And Tex?

You either say Peace to posada, and put Russ Martin as the full time catcher, and Put either Tex or Pujols as DH

With the Money Being Paid to Tex, i do not see him being a DH.

OR you stick Albert in Left Field. I don't think that will go over well with him.

Or do you just stick Albert in the Outfield?
