Ike Davis 1B in AA , playing for the Binghamton Mets has 15 Homeruns in the minors. Clearly, if the Mets keep putting the same guys on the field, they are definitly not making the playoffs. Why not call up Ike Davis to play 1B. Just give him a try. See what he can do:
1) Even if he doesn't do well, neither are the Mets, its not like he's gonna single handedly keep the Mets out of the playoffs
2) Maybe he does really well and he helps shorten the time between now and when the Mets get some guys off the DL

Maybe next year, this is only his 2rd year of hitting full time. I think he's kind of flying under the radar since he sucked last year and started slow.

It just took him a while to get used to wood bats and actually hitting everyday, I saw him his junior yr at ASU and he could hit, but I didn't know if it would translate from a metal bat though.

i'm just saying that, it really can't hurt the Mets, bringing him up

It could hurt Davis' confidence though if he hits like .150 and can't hit a HR in Citi and confidence is very important with younger players coming up.

Surprised you didn't have him on your Mets poll, as I did.

I think that K-Ike Davis ( :D j/k, I had to) is going to be solid when he reaches the majors. I see him being a 15-20 homer/year guy with a batting average around .260-.270. Not an all-star but a very solid player with good defense who should have a nice 5-10 year career.

Hoping for more, but i guess i'd settle for 20 HR's at the mets rate

I hope you meant to imply that he strikes out a lot, otherwise, that's definitely an ethnic slur... ::facepalm::

There would be no reason to start the arbitration clock on a prospect if he isn't going to have an impact on a lost season

Ike was a stud when I played against him at Chaparral HS, and I think he will be the Mets future 1B once Delgado retires/traded

Stop being so paranoid. Of course I typed that because he still has to work on lowering his strikeouts. :)
