I posted on the football boards 30 minutes ago, no views on my post, so I'll try here:

I am a baseball collector, so I don't know much about the football side of the hobby. I was in a thrift store today and picked up a binder with a bunch of biggio RCs and some Maddux RCs, and mixed in there were some football and hockey. Nothing too amazing as far as I can tell, but I'm curious about these 1988 Topps football cards. Some of them habe blue backs instead of regular cardboard coloring. Any significance to that?

Thanks in advance,
Anthony

I just checked my box abs the bottoms have blue backs as well. I looked at the checklist and it appears all the box bottoms are two player cards also. Perhaps the card just missed part of the printing process.

Hmmm, maybe. There are about 14-15 pairs of cards like the Rice one I pictured, a lot of them are the two player cards.

Thanks for the help, folks!

Just for reference, here are the card numbers. I'm not so sure they are box bottoms:
6, 215, 216, 208, 282, 351, 35, 342, 218, 85, 21, 7, 116, 301, 217, 102, 231, 108

[h=3]Box Bottoms[/h] The box card set has 16 cards that were found on the bottom of regular issue wax pack boxes as a four card panel. The cards feature two players per card of NFL stars who won awards when in college. The cards are lettered A-P. Size: 2.5 × 3.5 in. (individually)

I saw that, too--thanks magic. It's just that 208 , 282, 108, 231, 102, 301, 116, 21, 85, 7, and 6 are not two player cards. They are highlight cards and record breaker cards and even a few just regular base cards.

If you are gonna move them, I'm sure there are some players collectors looking for the other version. I know in baseball some of the Topps Send Ins have white n grey variations. If these are even less common there may be a market

I'm blind. Just noticed: no blue ink at all on the backs. So, the name/team/position is blank on the backs. Maybe it is a printer error.
