I made a killing on Rasmus. If your a prospector why would you still have those?

I think he's talking about Braves Rasmus, who never made it as he was the only Rasmus with rookies in '06.Oddly enough, Cardinals had another Rasmus in camp this spring.

I was never a prospector but I did buy a few extra Pattersons and Keltons just in case. I sold the Pattersons as a loss and the Kelton is being used as a coaster in my card room as we speak! Wanna buy it........cheap? The case has a few coffee stains but they can easily be cleaned off! LOL

How much did you lose on Patterson? He got off to a good start, got hurt his rookie year, was never the same.I still have a Harvey autograph I pulled out of a box a few years ago.

Where is the bar on the timeline that delineates what releases are TOTALLY tapped out? 2005? 2006? Chaz Roe isn't ever going to be anything, so 2005 is basically all dried up. Everything that was ever going to happen, HAS happened. Mat Gamel is never going to make it in all likelihood; is there ANYTHING from 2006 that hasn't hit yet?

See my point? What year/set can we guarantee will never produce any more value?

Please leave out the possibility that someone pulls a once-in-a-generation Josh Hamilton thing.

I say 2006 and back. I am sadly still holding quite a few 2006 BC Gamel items.

Actually, Mat Gamel may well play this year. He is probably the last of the 06 draftees to get a shot (other than random pitchers that throw a lucky no-no or some other unforseeable circumstance)

After re-injuring his knee, the Braves released Gamel in February. Have not heard of anyone picking him up since.

I happen to have some old Beckett's laying around to check the McGwire prices....

June 1987 = $0.60
January 1988 = $20
January 1989 = $18
December 1989 = $18
December 1990 = $20
January 1993 = $30
October 1993 = $22
December 1994 = $10
December 1995 = $10
December 1996 = $18

I'm not sure when these Beckett's were originally released, but as McGwire hit 15 HR in the month of May in 1987, as a rookie, I'd have expected to see something other than sixty cents on his listing.

I think there was a two or three month lag for each issue of a magazine to be released even though in the case of Beckett I think they tried to make the actual price guide a last minute priority so they could add the most accurate pricing information.

Thanfully I didnt lose much as I was a card shop owner in the Chicago area when he was coming up so I bought really low and sold everything I had before he was brough to the majors. I may have basically broken even or cae out a little ahead. Now Kelton and some other kid I thought was a sure fire hit about the same time......thats a totally different story.

Speaking of failed cubs, how about Brian Dopirak?

I forgot which 02 bcp parallel I had but I remember I sold it and it paid for my airfare to Hawaii in '04 after his huge year prior.
