WFAN is reporting it. Anyone else hear this? I guess he's better than Cody Ransom. Wonder what they gave up for him?

No, it is not Austin Jackson, they said Jonathan Albaladejo or Melancon.

Jon Mayo's most recent twitter update:

"I'm thinking now the Austin Jackson info is not accurate, stand by..."

I really hope they didn't give up A-Jax. That would be... I don't even know what that would be.

No, Albaladejo or Melancon was being sent down.

I'm hearing C Chase Weems (per Ken Davidoff).

rotoworld:

"According to Ken Davidoff of Newsday, the Yankees acquired utilityman Jerry Hairston Jr. from the Reds for minor league catcher Chase Weems.

That's much, much better. Initial reports had top outfield prospect Austin Jackson heading to Cincinnati to complete the deal. Weems, 20, was batting .260/.317/.347 with one home run and 14 RBI in 173 at-bats Single-A Charleston. "

why would they send melancon down after pitching a great 2.1 innings against the rays allowing only 1 base runner?

Because he has options left. Usually, that's the determining factor (over performance) with middle relievers.
