I'm on pace to lose about $250 per year

Because buyers cannot wait until I send them an invoice when they buy multiple cards. And I check my ebay about 10-12 times a day. Easily.

I lose about $5 in paypal fees every week because I'll have a buyer buy one card then pay, then buy another card, then pay again, then buy another card, then pay again - all within a span of 5 minutes. That works out to be $250 a year.

I mean, I appreciate the business and all, but geez, $250 in paypal fees that I could easily HAVE is depressing and frustrating. Any other sellers have problems with this?

Just pretend each card sold to a different buyer.

Ha, easier said than done. I make sure they all go into the same package so I can at least save on shipping fees. I know $250 isn't a lot of money to some people - especially spread out over a year. But it is to me right now. Just thinking that I could pay 5 months worth of ebay store "rental" fees with that....

Wait, are you shiping everything for free? If not, are you factoring in all the additional 'shipping fees' your pocketing, as you already said you ship them all together...?

Yes every one of my auctions has free shipping.

Please explain to me how you are losing money. What does the single invoice do.

Saving at least the .30 paypal transaction fee.

Right. If a buyer buys 4 cards from me and pays 4 different times - that is 90 cents I lose b/c the 30 cent flat fee is taken with every payment.

The 4th .30 is not added because that is the base .30 for the entire transaction.

And now Paypal charges .30 cents to refund, so you can't do that.

Put something in the auction that states that if you pay for auctions separately, there will be an additional charge for 30 cents per payment that must be paid before the cards will be shipped.

I thought about this but that leads to the anal buyers flipping out b/c it's an extra 30 cents. And there are some really anal buyers out there. I had a guy flip out on me b/c opened an unpaid item dispute after 6 days of no payment. He paid for the card and then DEMANDED an instant refund b/c he didnt want to do business with me if I was so impatient. I could just see similar buyers doing similar-type demands. Or dinging my DSR's b/c of it.

I may just start putting in all caps in every auction body "If buying multiple cards, please wait until I send you an invoice to pay." Who knows how many people will actually read that.

You're looking at this wrong.

You set your price to sell the card at, including free shipping. Assuming that 4 different people bought your cards, you'd be out $1.64 plus supplies per shipment, plus the paypal fees. That's a good $6.50 right there on 4 transactions. You SAVED that much by being able to ship it to one person.

I know you sell a lot of cheap cards on there as well. I have the same issue every once in awhile and I always feel the need to ship them in separate packages to avoid a bad buyer saying he only got one card when it was a package of 3 cards.

aka "FeeBay"

On another note, someone mentioned selling cheap cards... has anyone ever done the math and figured what the breakeven point is for when it doesn't even make sense to sell a card on eBay? I feel like it's somewhere around $1.50. It always  me when I get a card for $1 and free shipping because I'm like "this guy for sure lost money on this, even if he does send PWE".

Or

I could've saved shipping fees AND paypal fees and be $5 richer every week than what I am now.

And I don't pay $1.64 shipping for every card I sell.
