On another note, someone mentioned selling cheap cards... has anyone ever done the math and figured what the breakeven point is for when it doesn't even make sense to sell a card on eBay? I feel like it's somewhere around $1.50. It always :shock: me when I get a card for $1 and free shipping because I'm like "this guy for sure lost money on this, even if he does send PWE".

Depends on how quickly you sell the $1 card and how much you were in for it. Don't get me wrong, it's not much and not worth it unless the buyer buys more than 1 card.

I know this is the case 90%, if not all, the time.

But like I said, I also check my ebay 10-12 times a day and if they have paid, they bought multiple cards from me in a span of an hour or two at most.

Either you have the buyer flipping out, or the seller flips out.

You're looking at this wrong.

You set your price to sell the card at, including free shipping. Assuming that 4 different people bought your cards, you'd be out $1.64 plus supplies per shipment, plus the paypal fees. That's a good $6.50 right there on 4 transactions. You SAVED that much by being able to ship it to one person.

It won't stop every eager beaver buyer out there, but it would probably help to put something about waiting for an invoice in your descriptions; make it obnoxiously large and obvious.

I know I'm guilty of this. While I try to note if I'm bidding on multiple cards from the same seller within a given time, if the auctions are ending on different days, I will often miss that due to the number of snipes I have set each week.

Since I try to pay ASAP (as soon as I notice I won, usually within the hour of winning), sometimes I don't notice that I may win other items from the same seller later that night or within the next couple of days.

This is slightly different though. If this were the case with me (as a seller), I wouldn't be upset about it. All of the cards I sell are via BIN, with free shipping, and no immediate payment required.

I have it rather large near the top of the description that those winning multiple items need to wait for an invoice. This doesn't always work but I like to think it helps.

This is one of a handful of reasons that I do not sell cheap singles on eBay. It isn't worth it when you factor in everything. If you want to sell cheap singles, go do it on sportlots-just my opinion.

But the amount of time it takes to list things, the fees involved(especially the $0.30 per paypal transaction flat fee) make it very difficult for cheap singles to be sold on eBay while also it being worth your time. I think the bottom line for me is that it simply isn't worth the hassle. I think there are better places to sell cheap singles. Again, just my opinion. Hopefully things start to go a bit better for ya, no matter if you go a different route or if you stay on eBay.

Why not just cancel the multiple Paypal transactions, send the buyer one single invoice and ask him to pay all at once ... of course, explaining that you cancelled the transactions for the BUYERS benefit to save on shipping fees, cause in reality if he's buying and paying each individually, he should be paying the initial shipping fee on each item, and not a combined, but in reality, it's saving YOU the Paypal fees.

Do you click the box when you list your items that automatically combine mutliple items? This should allow the buyer to pay for multiple items all at once if they pay before you have a chance to an send invoice.

What he's saying is...a buyer hits the BIN and pays, then hits another BIN and pays a little while later, then another, and another.

Because he has free shipping the buyers don't care about waiting for an invoice for multiple items.

That's what I do, after having sent them a message through eBay first highlighting the advantage and savings of the combined shipping discount. Best for everyone involved, and it makes you look like an interested, considerate seller.

This would make sense if he charged for shipping. Doesn't Paypal now charge for refunds?
