I opened tons of 91-93. Not one single Elite out of any of them. I always hoped to pull a Rickey from 91 or 92.

I went to a card show last year and brought home 4 boxes of 91 Donruss. My wife helped me rip them and of course she pulled a Matt Williams Elite card. I pulled a Barry Bonds about 10 years ago out of 91 Donruss as well.

That's actually mislabeled and is the 1992 Elite.
This is an example of the 1991 Elite that I pulled:

Needless to say, both the '91 and '92 were EXTREMELY tough pulls.
At one time the '91 Henderson was pushing $200.
Not sure on the '92, as I never owned that one.

[h=3]1991 Elite[/h] One of the truly landmark sets, these special cards were randomly inserted in the 1991 Donruss first and second series wax packs. These cards marked the beginning of an eight-year run of Elite inserts. Production was limited to a maximum of 10,000 serial-numbered cards for each card in the Elite series, and lesser production for the Ryne Sandberg Signature (5000) and Nolan Ryan Legend (7500) cards. This was the first time that mainstream insert cards were ever serial-numbered allowing for verifiable proof of print runs. The regular Elite cards are photos enclosed in a bronze marble borders which surround an evenly squared photo of the players. The Sandberg Signature card has a green marble border and is signed in a blue sharpie. The Nolan Ryan Legend card is a Dick Perez drawing with silver borders. The cards are all serial-numbered on the back.
Although the exact pack insertion odds were never publicly revealed, it has been estimated that the odds of finding an Elite card were about 1:75/boxes. Because 1991 Donruss was grossly over-produced, a large portion of the production run (anywhere from 30% to 50%) remains hidden away in unopened packs. Compared to other serial-numbered inserts that would come in later years, the '91 Elites have maintained their value over the years because of their genuine scarcity.

[h=3]1992 Elite[/h] For the second straight year, Donruss created a limited (for 1992) series of serial-numbered insert cards. With the exception of the Rickey Henderson "Legend" card (with is serial-numbered to 7500 copies), each card is numbered to 10,000 copies, and is sequentially numbered as an extension of the 1991 set.

Although the odds were not fully disclosed it has been estimated that the chances of pulling an Elite insert were approximately 1:55

[h=3]1993 Elite[/h] The third batch of Elite inserts were randomly inserted into 1993 Donruss packs. The set is sequentially-numbered as a continuation of the set begun in 1991, and each card is serial-numbered to 10,000 copies. Cards 19-27 were random inserts in 1993 Donruss Series One packs while cards 28-36 were inserted in Series Two packs.
The Will Clark Signature Series card was randomly inserted in all 1993 Donruss foil packs. Clark autographed 5000 cards for random insertion. The third Legends Series card, featuring a Dick Perez portrait, honored Robin Yount for reaching 3000 career hits. This card is serial-numbered to 7500 copies and inserted into both series. This was the last year for the Legends Series and Signature Series.
The exact odds were never revealed, but based on the experiences of those collectors who ripped large amounts of 1993 Donruss wax, the odds of finding an Elite card is 1:45/boxes.

I have always wondered if the odds for 91 Donruss Elite cards were really that steep as the 1 in 75 boxes. The reason being is I have pulled two. Well my wife pulled the second one. When I bought the four boxes last year the seller told me he had bought a case and had pulled one out of one of the boxes and he assumed there wouldn't be any more of them in the case. Maybe we just got lucky. I have not pulled one from 92 Donruss as of yet. I did find 3 or 4 boxes a while back for $5 each and ripped them with no luck. I will keep trying to pull one anytime I can find these cheap. I would love to run across a case or two of these locally to rip. Shipping kind of kills the price of these sometimes.

I can't remember if it was basketball or baseball, but I remember pulling a Topps Black Gold redemption for a whole set. This was probably 94 or 95. Was stoked when I got them in the mail. But now I can't even remember what they were. I would bet on basketball though, because I was big into basketball cards the.

I once opened a box of 1994 SP Football and every pack had one of these, which booked for over $100 at the time:
$(KGrHqJ,!j!FC9NOuJ+ZBQ4cD349e!~~60_3.JPG

Then I woke up. I knew then that I was spending a little too time with the cardboard.

I opened a fair amount of wax in the early-mid 90s, but never had a hit more than $75 BV, probably. Just never had that luck. I had one pack from 1994 SP that a red AND blue holoview card, but they were both Ozzie Smith (the red was $75 at the time, IIRC). In 1998 I decided to get in on the rookie thing and opened 3 boxes of Bowman series 1. I pulled the Hideo Nomo BBM Japanese card, which had some long odds, but wasn't ever really worth that much. I think it booked at $40-50 initially, but no one cared about it, couldn't trade it for jack.

I also hit a hot box of 1994 Fleer Football jumbo, but all the best inserts were of the worst players. But even then I don't think the best card in the set booked very highly.

Of course, all those Jeters I got in 1993 SP, and have kept all this time, turned out OK.

In 1995 I pulled a Shaq auto /225 out of Classic 5 Sport at my LCS. It had the stamp in the corner. I didn't collect basketball so the shop owner said he would sell it for me. About a week later he handed me an envelope when I came in. When I opened it there was $300 in it. He said somebody came in looking for a Shaq auto. The guy handed him 3 $100 bills. I was happy with that. Of course I spent way more than $300 in that shop.
