Sorry, but the question mark wouldn't fit w/ the character limit.

This question is for the upcoming 2009 season only, so it is more of a short-term investment of who you think will see a greater spike ROI-wise. It might be in the beginning of the MLB season, middle, or overall at the end of the season, but the answer should be purely assuming that one would dump the cards as soon as that player got hot at the optimal point.

I say Billingsley because he has already proven he can pitch at a top level in the majors and if he stars in a playoff run, watch out. LA is a huge market.

Be careful when you invest in pitchers. Im sure people made a killing of Lincy and Joba Bowman auto's, but think Wood, Prior etc and Wilson, Pullsipher, Isi, when you are thinking of investing in pitchers. All it takes is 1 pitch and your investment is a snapped tendon.

i went with stephen drew. he had a good second half last year and this could be the year he puts it all together. his prices aren't near what they were in 2005 but a hot start could help them reach that level again

I went with Billingsley. I've recently picked up 14 BC Auto's as well as 95 Prospect Premieres RC's (so many money is where my mouth is.) I have also picked up some Stephen Drew stuff recently (3 BC Auto's.) Drew's second half was stellar and when BP is high on a guy that looks good to me, it usually clinches some purchases. I have also been considering picking up some Nolasco stuff recently.

If every guy on the list gets red hot, the biggest jumps will be seen by guys like Cruz, Nolasco and Sanchez (whose cards are the cheapest and aren't considered "established" players like the other 2. That said, Drew and to a greater degree Billingsley have proven themselves. They have shown they can be a star at the highest level. While they might not spike quite as much as the others if all get hot, I think there's a better chance they perform well, and any spikes by those two are more likely to be a sign of sustainable increases than a 1 week spike where you may not even be able to catch the window (people love to quote the highest prices that have ever been attained on cards they have and speak about the spikes, but if those sales aren't yours, and the spike last all of 15 minutes, it's meaningless.)

I went with Billingsley, but I'm shocked at no love for Sanchez. Randy Johnson will be a big impact on those young pitchers.

This is probably Johnson's last stop, and he'll never forget the discussions he had with Nolan Ryan when Seattle played Texas...so this is his time to repay the mentor role.
