Yeah, honestly, get over it. They still had bases loaded, 1 out. Not to mention they had countless other chances in that game, as did the Twins.

Alexi Casilla also got to the plate before the tag got to him.

Yeah it was a blown call.... And sadly it went against my tigers, but what are you going to do.

What's done is done.... Can't say Twins didn't compete hard, they played awesome as did the Tigers although to many men left on base.

But it's not not on the Twins it's on the dang umps.... I wouldn't be in the least suprised to see 2-4 blown calls in the postseason.

Video replay is indeed needed and needs to be easier accessible to the Umpires, Then again it's the home plate umps call and he wouldn't check with the other umps.

Good luck Twins!

Chashawk- Good call- I was thinking the same thing...better than a pitch called four inches outside the plate- it barely got jersey- It did not hit "him"

So do players make their shirts baggy and hang over the plate so they can get on base more?

True, but that is an automatic base in all other games when the ump catches it.

Not gonna cry and cry about it.... but it should have been a HBP.

Wouldn't put it past them....

I think it was pretty obvious that it "hit" him, but from behind the plate, in live speed, it would be impossible to tell if his jersey "moved" because of the ball, the wind, or his body moving. If they had a "challenge flag" like in the NFL, no doubt it would have been overturned.

You know that ain't a half bad idea, give each coach 1 challenge.... I know it's been mentioned before.

But I do think they should look into something like that.

It hasn't been done for the same reason that they just started allowing umpires instant replay to look at HR's. They should implement the college football rules. Every single play (not including ball/strike) should be reviewed by someone in the booth, and if there is any question about the call being right/wrong, they should buzz the umpires and have them take a look

It may have been a bad call, but it wasn't the only of the game.

It happens, that ump sucked IMO. If Inge comes through with a sac fly or better, this isn't even an issue. It was a great game nonetheless.

One other thing, does anyone else hate the fact that a ball grazing a loose hanging piece of the uniform is a HBP? To me a HBP should actually make contact with their body, not the thread hanging off of one's pant leg. It equals out in the end, Huff got a lame HBP call on a ball that didn't hit him.

I agree it is unfortunate that umps make bad calls in critical games like this, Yeah I don't like the HBP call if it gets uniform and should be looked at.

But they were calling that a HBP all year up to that point.... And it should have been a HBP.

But like I said what's done is done, good luck to your Twins tonite.

While I was indifferent to the actual outcome of the game (always liked the way the Twins play the game, but always pull for Van Slyke and the other former Buccos), I think it would have been bad for the sport for the division to potentially be decided on the ball grazing what was obviously a very baggy jersey.

Missed call or not, sometimes I think it really is best to just 'let the players play,' rather than putting the outcome of the game in the hands of umpires or officials.

I am continually amazed by the number of "bang-bang" plays the umpires get correct.

(...although you should have to actually touch second base on a double play)
