i know some cards with autographs and inscriptions bring a premium at auction. my question is do cards without the autographs but are inscribed add value or subtract value? example my 08 prime cuts al kaline card /25 that just says mr tiger. does the lack of a true auto hurt?h

to me, without an auto, I wouldnt touch it.

But there are hardcore player collectors out there who will have to have it, and will sustain value

I would think the novelty of it would not hurt the value much, if any. True, it isn't a traditional autograph, but it still should do well, being there aren't many of them.

I think that it depends on the signer. If they commonly sign inscriptions, then I think that is worth less, but if they rarely sign inscriptions then it should be worth the same or more.

Increases value. Love it when player signs only nickname. Most guys common auto only cards are a dime a dozen, very hard to find just inscription cert autos. I think they are very cool and really stand out.

The whole point of this entire subset was just to sign the nickname.

Average Dawson auto /100 sells for $8-12. On the rare occasion these /100 come up for sale, $80-100.

When cards that have random nickname autos come up (maybe 5/100 total autos), they carry a huge premium.

Btw - It also doesn't hurt to have a badass nickname.

From what I remember, the Mark Grace autos that are signed "Amazing Grace" sold for more than the standard Grace autos.
