He has 5 errors already this season and he only had 6, 8, and 6 each of the last three seasons.

All those awards and trophies can slow a man down

lol

i was just checking box scores tonight and saw he had a dropped catch and it said it was his 5th error and i knew he is a great defensive first basemen and thought that was a lot for him so i looked it up and sure enough that is a lot for him. I just hope he doesnt have another nagging injury or something.

WHen you have a mix of Triple A players, and out of position players throwing the ball to you at 1B you are bound to have an increase.

Like last night. Skip made a TERRIBLE throw from 2B to Pujols making him stretch back over the line, and he knew he was going to get hit, and he missed the ball.

Having Skip, Barden, Thurston and a few others throwing you the ball instead of Rolen, Glaus, Eckstein, Grudz and even Adam Kennedy you are not going to have the same numbers.

Uhh bad throws to the 1B are errors on the throwers, not Pujols

No, Sam has a point.

The connection between the thrower and the 1B man can get a little cloudy. And remember, it's up to a human being's perception (the official scorer) as to who is at fault; and they can be wrong. For example, Kendrick's inside-the-park job the other night was an error on Guillen, NOT a HR. Any fool could see that, except whoever was scoring that game.

If a first basemen misses a scoop, its an error on the thrower

If a first basemen has to come off the base and can't make the catch, its an error on the thrower

Yes it is the first basemen's responsibility to catch the ball at any cost, but it is still not an error on them.

His 5 errors are 2 missed catches, 2 fielding errors, and a throwing error. Like what was already said, if its a bad throw the error is on the person who threw it.
