IP Autograph Seekers - Hints to doing it right

I don't sell anything but still you guys have probably never done it and are just complaining about random crap.

i in no way agree with "shoving a binder full of 30 cards in a players face to sign"...but come on...it goes with the territory...the majority of the guys the IP autograph collector is chasing, are MLB players, or top prospects...both of whom ethier make 40k a month, or signed a pretty significant signing bonus. Sorry if I dont feel bad for the players having to "deal with this nonsense". Im sure they'd much rather work a 9-5 job for 40k a yr then be hasseled by some fans and make a few mil. I mean come on, put it in perspective. Their making millions to play a game, and we're gonna show them pity cause they get hasseled for autographs. Whether the IP autograph seeker is wrong or right in many cases, who cares...thats part of what comes with making that kind of money to play baseball. And im sure as some of you have seen in my other posts, i play Independant Professional Baseball. So as a rookie last yr, when there were nights that 50-100 fans would be asking for everyones autograph, that I should have been turning people down cause im only making a 3 digit salary per month...yes 3 digit...so lets get real here

oh and in addition....i would love to sign 1,000 autographs a night, every night to have had a multi-mil signing bonus, or play for 40k a month instead of 800

First off all, I have graphed extensively in the past and I was never one of those people out there trying to get 100 autos in a night. I didn't want to be one of those asses who went around ruining the hobby for everyone else.

It may "go with the territory" but the people doing it are the ones taking a players time from signing for someone else. They also get sick of seeing the greed of some of these people and stop signing all together because they feel that everyone is out to make a buck off them on eBay.

they no possible way anyone can get me to agree with feeling bad for the players...no chance of it...they play a game for a living...and most of them (once again, the ones most targeted for autos), make a pretty darn good living off of it, while the majority of the people going to see them anddddddd paying their salaries, work normal 9-5 jobs making, 20,30,40,50k....whatever....and u want to feel sorry for the player cause they get hasseled...it 100% comes with the territory...if its so bad signing autos....and i mean for anyone...then quit playing and go find a different job....im sure not to many players are jumping at that oppurtunity tho

As far as the original poster goes for this topic, most of the advice given, I agree with.

Keep in mind that you will see more and more people as you move up from say Single A ball to MLB and you'll see more and more dirty tricks if you will like people using their nieces, nephews, cousins, children and grandchildren who don't want to be at the ballpark to get autographs for the adults.

You're missing my point. It isn't necessarily about the players, it is about ruining a player's signing habits for others in your hobby.

it doesnt matter...i already said i dont agree with trying to rack out 30 at a time...but as a player...and an adult...if u cant deal if some pushy fans, and its going to make u stop signing altogether, then u need to grow the f up...period

I don't think the arguing is really that necessary about this topic.
I've seen crazy things that people do while graphing.

Spitting on a persons car for not signing for them after a game. That's probably the story I have heard a lot about doing this hobby for many years.

I personally have no problem moving on with the topic at all. As far as I am concerned, I try to help when I can to allow kids to get autographs at the dugout and that's something the original poster can do to bring good will to those at the dugout at games.

On countless occasions I've had a player not sign for me because he ran out of time because the person before me dropped 10+ cards on him. It is inconsiderate to other collectors to engage in this kind of practice.

Some baseball players set their own limits as to how much time they want to spend interacting with the fans (including signing).

Keep that in mind when going to the ballpark.

Usually if your on the short end of not getting the auto, its your fault for being in the wrong place or not having your items ready..... Also, common sense tells you if 50 people are there fetting a autograph from the player, your chances are low regardless of how many I am getting signed.....

Keep telling yourself this, if he stands as you stick 50 items in his face he could be walking around signing in other areas of the ballpark. Buts its all about you....
