Basically the way I get around this is that I have 5 different ebay accounts. Each linked to a different person in my family.

There is no way in Hell the likes of Burbank and similar big sellers have records of every card in there store. I can see prices possibly going up to cover the IRS bill.

So are they going to start listing at 125% of BV instead of 110%?

Does your family know that you are putting them at risk? Tax or no tax, performing sales transactions in someone else's name is a hugggeee no no.

Would be a disaster if somehow one got audited and then it linked to the other four . . .

I don't think I'd want to put a relative in a position like that.

If there were another auction site and payment system the IRS would have an incredibly difficult job enforcing anything...

Its no big deal. We all live in the same house. Payments and shipping from same address. Three of them arent legal citizens of the usa anyway. I think were protected under Obama's new law or something.

I see Ebay being the big loser in this. Sellers will sell less or stop completely.

People have always learned to adapt to change, and this will just be another thing people will have to adapt to.

A_Pharis, are you employed by the IRS? No?
Does this affect you in any way, shape, or form? No?

Then. Shut. Up.

Not that I disagree, but it's funny that sellers will sell less or stop, when they should have been reporting profits on goods sold since day one.

Just because Ebay/Paypal hasn't been sending information to the IRS doesn't mean that sellers don't have to pay taxes from selling on Ebay.

Smart sellers will keep selling. Bad sellers will stop. Dumb sellers will get audited.

Yeah, it does affect me since it's people trying to AVOID paying taxes on something THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN TAXABLE that is causing such a crackdown.

No wonder everyone foes you JoshHamilton. You're a bigger disgrace to that name than the real deal. And to tell the truth - I dunno' why Chris even allows discussion of purposeful tax evasion on the boards. Hell, I can even see giving music piracy a pass... but suggesting people commit felony tax fraud?

That garbage doesn't belong here. It's fuel for other malicious communities... and that affects me and everyone else here.
