I asked a dude on ebay what he wanted for his 2008 Bowman Chrome Michael Stanton 9.5 w 10 Auto.......he has it at $325 and I sent in an offer of $125 and it was declined. I asked him how much he wanted to get for it and he replies back $275 - is it just me or is this really high. Perhaps I can barter him down a bit - but did he have another 2 HR game that I missed (besides the one after his injury).

What is fair market price for this card right now? Is the price so high because of the potential? Im at odds here.

Perhaps for this particular seller that would be the explanation. That's not how market price works though. With base autos getting about $100, a BGS 9.5 with 10 auto (a relatively rare grade for that card) is worth no more than $175, and probably closer to $140-$160.

$275 is that seller's dream at this point in time, his card is worth nowhere near that much right now.

what has Mike Stanton done???? why would anyone pay $325 for that card when you could have this for twice the cost

Well there's logic and then there is delusion. You would hope no one would pay near that much for that card.

Umm, Eric collects. He said he didn't care about the money he spent on it. Please refrain from bashing people's collecting habits. No one comes on and bashes collectors of Juan Gonzalez, so why should you bash people who buy prospects. I personally work with on a daily basis in the summer a ton of prospects. A bunch probably will never make it, but if I buy their cards for what ever prices I don't care if they make it. It is what I collect.

They won't be at that price for long. Just another classic case of recent completed auctions being misleading. These are just a couple bombs away from an insane price hike.

You're probably right, I stopped following his BC Autos when they hit triple digits before he was in the Majors. IMO his Topps Chrome Autos are one of the best investments available right now though..I think I have three or four plus a refractor copy, all of which I think could easily double this year if not more.
