Is eBay trying to trick you into giving up survey info?

We've all gotten little survey things from eBay in the past, which most of us have deleted on the spot. Now, I think they are getting a little tricky. Did any of you get the "seeking participants for research" email? You sign up, do some surveys for them over four months and get $100 at the end of the four months. Only thing is, to get in this research group, you must apply to see if they'll pick you, and to apply, you must fill out quite a lengthy informational survey. You should fill out it, see if you get "selected".

All I know is I did one of those surveys once and it took me about 20 minutes to complete. And that was the last eBay survey I did.

I do all of them for the slim chance that I get some sort of reward, either a coupon, gift certificate, or invite to ebay buys, or something of that nature. Not sure if they help or not but i just do it during times when i would be doing nothing else anyways
