I do some prospecting myself. The hard question is who are the best buys now and who will turn out? I have a hard time buying prospects that are in an orginization that has never turned out youngsters. Any input out there would be great.

I think that's certainly a good question.

For instance, I am a huge Cubs fan but I have trouble putting faith in any Cubs hitter as the track record recently has been very poor there.

I think it's just a strong buyer's market in general right now, with few exceptions.

With that being said...I love this Matzek kid. but he is from colorado. I do not care how good he is..it is colorado. A prospect will never get the hype there like they would NY. I would buy a lesser NY prospect rather than a stud in colorado is my point. anybody else?

The patch on Hank's sleeve is gorgeous. I can just see Topps or Upper Deck cutting that jersey to smitherines and gluing it to some nice new shiny cardboard :-(

It is certainly a thought, although I think if Matzek starts being named one of the top 5 pitching prospects in the minors, which I think is possible, his cards will jump no matter what team he plays for.

it is a double-edged sword......either it is an inflated buy-in price or an inflated sell price.....pick your poison.

I have seen some very steady bumps across the prospecting landscape these past two weeks......if you aren't buying now then your ROI will be half of what it could be.
