I tend to ware my hat with a relatively flat bill. I was on the field at the LE Storm game and I started to chat with pitching coach Dave Rasich who is a bit of an old school guy and boy did he rip me a new one over it

39 and still throwing BP
fun stuff
Love to sneak a decent knuckler in from time to time

regarding sticker thing ---- hate it
tempted to peel off whenever I see it

I would concur about the hot mom!

And I didn't know you were a kentucky knucksy! Nice! Who do you throw BP to?

Was HS baseball coach and AD but now cannot since I am administration (principal) and moved out of IL
Kind of pumped to see some of my former players and guys I coached against play in ST and AFL (Jimmy Adduci with Cubs, Cesar Carrillo with SD, Brian Bogusevic with Hous, Joe Benson with Minne, C Freidrich with COL, Mike Foltynewicz with Hous, saw Odorizzi pitch but not against my team, Mike Pericht with LAD)..hopefully Tony Zych Team USA product too one day

It's a terrible look. It started several years ago with Jesse James wearing a flat bill. Now, all the emo X Gamers have the flat bill. When these kids are our age, they will agree that they all look stupid.

I bend most of my hats. I like wearing the MLB hats backwards when im working at the warehouse and i generally keep the brims on those hats pretty straight though. I think they look better with a flat brim personally.

Flat brims hats are definitely a hip hop style thing though

For me, flats the way to go.
I used to curve the **** out of my brims and it just looks silly. I hate the flex fit hats by new era bc of the curve the come with. There were a few games this year that I had to play in the outfiel and needed glasses and with a flat brim it is so much easier to wear with glasses. just my preference.

It depends on the shape of your head as well. If you have a flat forehead, a flat bill looks good. If you have an egg-shaped round head, a curved bill looks good.

But if you have some kind of bastard hybrid of the two, you look like an idiot in any hat. Like me

I'm pretty sure I'm some sort of evolutionary failure

I don't know when New Era screwed up the bills and made them absolutely huge. My caps from the mid 90's look fine when bent. But now when I bend the bill it droops down to my cheeks and I look like I have a witch-doctor shrunken head. The only way they don't look stupid is to keep the bill flat

Yes...I actually go to the store Lids and they never have any normal hats now. I am relegated to whatever I can find at Academy or simple Batting Practice caps. And now...the majority of hats they sell at lids have some sort of ghetto look to them too. An astros hat all in blue? A astros hat with a red/blue bandanna pattern on it? A black .A. Dodgers hat meant to stand for the State abbreviation of Louisiana? Uh yeah...they are ghetto. I curve my hat real good and it only takes a few minutes for me to shape it properly. And they always keep the curve.

I'll tell you what I saw. When the flat brim stuff started you saw only thugs wearing them that way. I am not talking about "Oh he is black so he must be ghetto or a thug.". I am talking about the guy was a known gang member or drug pusher. It was a hip hop/ghetto/gang thing. People wishing to call it anything else are just blind or extremely oblivious. Now you have all the skateboarders and the jocks wearing them. Even the Abercrombie and Fitch crowd and whatnot. It also doesn't mean all black people wore their hats this way. I played baseball with several and they all wore them normal but you walk down to the corner and there is some drug slinger wearing a wave cap and a hat ten sizes too big pulled slightly to the side and the bill uncreased with all the stickers and even the damn price tag still on it.

I say to each their own. I listen to rap and I have no problem with others trying to emulate any sort of style they want. But I won't be fed a bunch of garbage about what it used to ,and still does in some cases ,represents. And I have always been comfortable being my self. I was never one for trends. Some people see things and no matter how odd or goofy it will look on them, they try to emulate it. They can't be comfortable making their own decisions.

Tall bill hats were not always creased...I'll give you that but those look good uncreased or not. I won't wear them because they make me look like an idiot but my dad wears them and they suit him well. Most old school guys wear them and they crease it slightly in the middle and it curves down only slightly.

As for the '02 cws...dude...I am talking about 1996 here. Where was Khalil in 1996? Still a junior in high school? A sophmore? This has been going on for a long time and you can really tell that a lot of you guys are from nice suburban places up north if you didn't notice it before 2002.

I have seen it since the Yanks won the series in 96. I remember after and during the playoffs that year that a TON of folks were walking around with all these flat billed hats and whatnot and my dad even commented on them to me when we talked on the phone. I figured it was a temporary fad but its still here. And as another poster alluded to........even some of the hat stores cater only to the flat billed designs for customers. Kinda depressing. I've actually fallen in love with the BP caps. I've got an Indians and a Yankees BP cap and I'm looking for a Braves and Nationals. SO if anyone finds one, lmk. ;)

Bunch of card collectors arguing to put a crease in something?

What are you guys thinking?

Those hats are BGS 9.5s and the Stickers left on grade a 10.

You're taking money out of these kids pockets.

Leave the kids alone!
