It's definitely a draw back that cannot be fixed...I would say most hobbyists rather sell a card to someone who shows extremely high interest with a great price, instead of jumping the gun for a quick sale.

When you say you went back and forth with him all day, as a seller I would personally be very frustrated and would be overjoyed to find someone who was a motivated buyer, willing to pay a premium, and willing to just get the deal done without all the wrangling. As buyers we have to keep in mind what we look for as sellers. Bad break. Perhaps when you see a must have item in the future it will be easier to just start the bargaining with, "what will it take to get this deal done now?" It will save heartache and headache.
