Other then Rondo, Roy and Gay is this rookie card class hobby dead?

also, can someone named "Gay" really ever be a huge hobby force?

If Rudy Gay was playing somewhere other than Memphis, his cards would do better. Nobody cares about his name. As it stands, he might still break out.

Lamarcus Aldridge, Tyrus Thomas, and Andrea Bargnani still have upside, as does Paul Millsap, who scored 46 the other night.

sadly, im not too sure about that.

lets say Gay gets out of the hole that is Memphis, and goes to one of the BIG markets.

Do you see (insert huge rap artist here) wearing a Jersey in a video that says "GAY" on the back of it?

or the kids in that particular town roaming the streets wearing a "GAY" jersey?

i don't

Are those kids buying high-dollar Rudy Gay cards? Are those kids buying the tickets to the games? I'm not sure about that.

cards and going to games are not the same as buying jerseys though.

is there anyway to look up the sales popularity of his jersey?

This class is dead, period.

Even Rondo is fourth fiddle on the team.

Good night.

Kyle Lowry is still young and developing, late first round pick who doesn't see much hobby love. He's a fun player to watch, had a couple injuries, but he's pretty dynamic. Stuck behind Aaron Brooks in Houston not helping. he scores, rebounds, steals, assists.

Good night.

I can't believe people still think this way. Must not watch many games.

Put Rondo on the t-wolves or the Grizzlies, then you'll understand my point of view.

I watch this kid play at least 85 times a year including playoffs. Put an average point guard on the Celtics in place of Rondo and you'll understand my point of view.

he'd be sebastian telfair. Its easy enough to get that many assists next to 4 future HOFers, but he cant even shoot or make free throws.

I'm surrounded by idiots! :o

Coming from someone that knows far more than most on this board about how the Celtics work as a team and how vital Rondo is to that success, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. That said, there is no doubt in my mind that people who think Rondo is an average player don't know a damn thing about basketball or what the role of a point guard is.

Come on now. That's just foolish. I may be in the minority but with out Rondo they do not win that ring.

You, me, and every single one of Pierce, Allen, and KG have said that.

Rondo = Steve Kerr = Derek Fisher.

All very good players that were made great because of who they were playing with. You obviously don't understand the concept of superior players opening things up for everyone else.

Pierce, Allen, and KG have all been in the game for a very long time. They know what to say and how to say it. Giving credit to the little guy is how all veterans euphamize their own talents and success.

Just like how the championship winning teams ALWAYS give the credit to the fans - i'm sure you've seen that nausea over and over again through the years- "We couldn't have done it without you guys, the fans". Yah right - it's almost as overplayed as "I don't feel like i'm losing a daughter, I feel like i'm gaining a son."

I can't believe i'm surrounded by a bunch of Celtic homers.

Pierce, Allen, and Garnett had been in the game for a long time, but could not win an NBA Championship. Moreover, they could not even make an NBA Finals, and there were plenty of whispers about Allen and Pierce being second-tier players at the time of the deals. They needed to be part of a better team to do so.

Rondo is now the second-best player on Boston, in my opinion. Garnett is still first, and Pierce/Allen are close to the twilight of their great careers. Probably a more apt comparison for Rondo is Tony Parker, a guy who was made significantly better by playing with Tim Duncan, but turned into a player that did not need TD to succeed. I agree that Rondo's assists are inflated by being on Boston, but his scoring is probably lower than it would be otherwise.

On a totally separate note, if you put Rondo on the Grizzlies, that team would be really nasty.

Just wondering, how many celtics games do you watch each year?

Also, please do some research before you pick random role players and compare them to Rondo. If playing with superior talent creates assists, why did Derek Fisher average 3.8 assists/36 minutes while playing with Kobe and Shaq in 2002-03? Mr. Kerr averaged similar numbers while Playing with Jordan, Pippen, and Kukoc.

Rondo is far from perfect, but he is what makes the Celtics run. He creates shots for the aging superstars that they can't create on their own anymore. He doesn't score a lot, but does it efficiently, and would rather hit an open teammate than take his own shot. That is a true PG. Also, that's all forgetting that he's probably the best defensive point guard in the league.

Obviously not as many as you, but I do know basketball as well. I'm not calling Rondo sebastian telfair, but he does benefit from a superior lineup.
