I dont get this, and see so many people doing it. What is with all the posting of every rare or hard to find card, etc. on a message board to see who is going after it???? Unless it is your auction that makes no sense????

Case in point just today we had the miggy 1/1 thread and the Felix hernandez gold REF. Have we not been on this board long enough to know who collects what??? Why not just a simple PM???

I think this is just a dumb idea. I guess in the long run I dont really care because most of the posts about the flavor of the day prospect or a player that I dont collect, but I have on 2 occasions had a VERY tough card to locate (one was a Koufax Jersey AUTO) get a post made about it just to see who saw the auction and was going after it, and I know it coincided with the card going way over book!!!

We all use ebay here, we can all find our own auctions, and if it is something I think someone would be interested in, I would much rather PM that person than spam the board for all to see and make it even harder for them to obtain..............

Even better are the people that make the posts about a card they are going after.....INSERT ::facepalm:: now please!!!!

Just a rant, sorry for the long read, maybe I am in a minority, but most of the posts seem to be coming from the same people over and over and over and over again and it is just stupid. I dont know...

If that were the case then you should have no problem with people posting eBay stuff. If everyone on here knows what they collect and knows how to find their own auction then posting on FCB wouldn't cause the price to jump up. Isn't the baseball forum for talking about baseball and baseball related cards? If so then how are those posts SPAM posts?

Missing my point here: my question is this...is it really necessary to post a thread asking if people are going after a card on ebay---and remember, these posts are generally coming from the same few members.

It is just a pet peeve of mine that is all......I am not talking about the auctions that say WOW, look what this went for....

I am specifically talking about the posts that start off with something like....

Who is going after this card??? or did everyone see this auction???, etc.

I think the right way this is being handled is the 90's insert thread....a thread that has its own spot for all the rare 90's inserts that includes a lot of the "did you see this one on ebay"----not 50 threads a day about who is and is not going after a card.

I agree, except for that they are "spam". I see where you are coming from, and it is the poster's job to use better judgment. But it's certainly their right to post them... and eBay, I'm sure, wouldn't complain, lol.

Edit - Just for an example, if I was a Cabrera collector and was watching that card someone posted about earlier in hopes of purchasing it at a decent price, I would be pissed that some schlub posted here for all to see and bid on. I THINK that is what the OP is getting at.

Ebay never discriminates.....they always participate as long as it gives them $$$$

I see where you're coming from but do you really think that posting on FCB will make a card jump up that much in price? For example: The 1/1 Miggy Topps Finest thread. Will posting that on here really drive up the price? If so then how?

You really need to ask this? It's quite obvious a card could get a huge jump from being posted here.

For the sad fact that people will see it and bid on it just so miggy doesnt win it.......for the fact that, hardly anybody was even looking for that miggy finest 1/1 more than likely, and then all of the sudden the 1500+ members of FCB that may see that thread now can go after it, when EVERYONE here knows that miggy and stlcardinals (sorry the exact name is eluding me) are the Miggy collectors.....

The Revere Gold REF the other day is another one....

the 5000 Tim Lincecum Chrome Threads I have seen........

It wouldnt be bad if it was something that happened every now and then, but lately it is like every 1/1, Red REF, Gold REF, etc that shows up on ebay.

I agree that it is goofy that people post "great ebay auctions" when they don't even want to bid on it

It DOES cause the price to jump
Some casual FCB members and ebay bidders who click on link will add a few extra incriments in the bids from time to time

Sometimes I wonder if those that post threads about these "nice deals" are just doing it as a favor for a buddy to increase their buddy's auction

I too would like if it people didn't post current auctions as thread topics

I agree...unless it's my auction.

Seriously though, I agree...seriously. There's been times I've been eyeing a card, I come on here, bam, there it is front page. Something along the lines of "C'mon!" or "F***!" follows.

Who said nobody cared? Also, not looking really doesn't remedy the issue.

I am not going to single you out because their are others that do this too (ok so I sort of singled you out), but what is the point of all your posts???

Are you really that nice of a guy that you want to let everyone on FCB know about the auction because you genuinely think that as a group we all need to see this auction and we have undoubtedly missed it during are daily paruse of ebay???????

Not to be picky, but I'm pretty sure that Koufax thread came after the auction ended cuz it finished at over $1,000.

I don't mind the threads...sometimes they do post something that I missed.

I will add that the only reason to be really PO'd about this is because you think you're going to get it for a great price for a potential quick flip.

This is the how it should be. I've received e-mails and PMs from members here and appreciate someone looking out for me and at the same time not telling the whole board.

Not to beat a dead horse but what about the contest threads of guessing where certain cards will end on eBay. Is that OK since they are giving away something to basically do the same thing everyone is upset about?

I will have to say, they are slightly less annoying than the "Is this ebay seller a member here?" threads. Those really drive me crazy.
