I just wanted to get everyones' opinion on something.
I was thinking about starting to collect Kevin Kolb as his cards are still low.

Does anyone think his stuff is worth risk?? I would be going for more high end stuff and not the lower stuff.

What does everyone think??

If Mcnabb goes its a grea investment. Like you said his stuff is surprisingly cheap still as there seems to be no way mcnabb stays at this point. Vick will not be the starter unless kolb gets hurt.

It sure looks like #5 is gone, but Philly has screwed up this type of thing before.

To your original question, he has looked good in his two starts, and he has alot of good weapons in that offense. The Iggles have had the best WRs of the last drafts fall to them, with a great receiving TE too.

I thought the Birds too him too high when he was drafted, although they said a couple of teams, including the Jags, were interested in him. When a guy comes from a smaller conference, he should dominating stats, and Kolb didn't.

IMO, he isn't worth the risk, and his price has gone up in the offseason, so it might be time to back off. Good luck either way!

Kolb has shown he's a capable QB. The skill-sets there to run the west-coast offense, so I'd say he's worth the risk.

Maclin and to a lesser extent Jackson and McCoy are really going to have to work on tightening up their underneath stuff. They've all got the moves to leave a defender behind, but if they don't really sell the routes, they'll be in trouble.

Ingram is going to be one hell of a weapon if he comes back strong from that injury, and If he wasn't a tight end, he'd be one hell of an investment. Even a stud in the making, in new york, like Dustin Keller still sells for dirt cheap.

Honestly, if you're in to turign 3 dollar cards into 14 dollar cards -- Ingram's a serious investment. I'd google some health reports though.

I can see Kolb as a top-10 QB stats wise.

Kolb is going to be the starter. It's just a case of if it'll be this year or next.
It's clear at this point they think he's the QB of the future - so even if McNabb is not traded, his contract is up at the end of the year and I don't see them offering him any sort of long term deal.

I think the biggest potential negative for Kolb will be the amount of pressure that will be put on him if he takes over this year. He won't be able to have a year like Stafford and still have people say "he has potential", because Philadelphia is expected to contend now. Also, he has to live up to McNabb's standard - As much as the fans would criticize him, he always performed......if Kolb is not meeting expectations I can see the fans turning on him as well, especially since it'd be a situation where they willingly gave up McNabb.
Then again, he could be a guy that thrives in that sort of situation - I don't think I'd call Kolb a guarantee or safe investment, but at this point I think the potential is a bit higher than any risk.

Some of Kevin Kolb's items, especially his SPAs, aren't necessarily cheap. They've been heating up the past few weeks and I think part of the possible fact that he'll be starting, especially with McNabb looking like he'll go, is already priced in a bit. His Contenders and such aren't too bad if you truly believe in Kolb's skill set. The Eagles have a lot of offensive weapons that can definitely make Kolb look good as well.

It all comes down to whether or not you believe in Kolb, though. Philly is a big market as well, so if he succeeds, there should be a big spike. Overall, I think he's a decent investment, though there are certainly better ones out there.

Thanks everyone!! I am still up in the air about him. I do live in the Philly area, so it would be easy to unload his stuff around here. Also, if he does do well..... I will be able to get a little more around here on his items. With all first year starters, it is hit or miss. I would be taking a huge chance, especially since his cards arent very cheap anymore. However, I will let everyone know in the next week or so what I decide!!

McNabb has always put up terrific stats, but man oh man, does he make downright idiotic decisions. He's not like Vince Young stupid, but he's still pretty stupid.

There's a group of terrific quarterback's right now that just lack the ability to put the situation into context...

you know who leads that list?

Brett effin Favre.

Hahaha, the Vikings should never even think about taking Favre back after the interception he three last year. Are you kidding me??? Who even throws the ball under those circumstances..... let alone in to decent coverage. He might be the best quarterback ever, but he is one of the worst in the clutch..... maybe next to Tony Romo!! Haha,

Phil

JGro- OK, even if I give you both those excuses......... he should have NEVER BEEN THROWING THE BALL!! Also, if he had a broken ankle..... that's even more of a reason to not throw the ball. Whether he or the coach made the call, doesnt really matter to me as he had the FINAL decision. Unfortunately (and fortunately for some), Favre has been known for making stupid passes in the past..... so this instance doesn't help. Kneel the ball...... kneel the ball!!!

The longer you wait the less ROI you will make and the greater the risk.

I am not saying he is a sure thing and put a grand in him now, just a reminder as I was bidding on his contenders for 23 dlvd to almost double that in a month.

I don't think Kolb will be a flop, but I don't really see that much upside in his RCs.

First, he's not anything close to a secret. He plays in a big market where more than half the fans want him to start over McNabb. I'd say that already puts an unjustified premium on his cards which will eat into your profits.

Which leads to the second knock: people already expect him to be better than McNabb. That's a tall order. There's no upside potential for him simply winning the starter's job or posting a .500 winning percentage. He's stepping into a QB job where getting to the NFC title game is a disappointment.

Finally, the Eagles don't seem to be getting better this offseason. Many of their important players are aging or have been released. I'm not convinced that Kolb will be well protected in the pocket or will have enough of a running game to keep teams from keying on the pass.

Yea, I am actually hoping McNabb stays around so Kolb's cards will come back down some. That way I can pick them up much cheaper. I don't really foresee that happening but if he isn't gone by the time the draft is over..... Kolb's cards might come down some.

As of right now, I am holding off. Depending on what happens over the next month with McNabb will really make or break my decision.

I was going to start picking Kolb up last year. I am kinda kicking myself that I didn't. I guess we will see in the following weeks what exactly is going on.

Here's Hoping!!
