While I didn't think the comments you cited were that far out of line, this is not the first time Braun has made some fairly asinine comments. Early in the season, Jeff Karstens hit Braun with a pitch that was clearly not intentional...just a breaking ball that got away from him if I recall correctly. After the game Braun went on a lengthy tirade about how that 'kid' was throwing at him, and I believe put blame on his pitchers for not retaliating. It certainly seemed like a huuuuge overreaction for something that didn't appear intentional to anyone except for Ryan. I found it comical that Braun would call Karstens a kid, considering Kastens is actually a year or two older.

Turning? He has been a prima donna since day one. He's an elite player but he's an arrogant ****** from Miami.

I saw the interview and the way he said it was not as bad as the media is making it out to be. He was basically saying that they didn't pitch or hit well as a team and they all need to step it up and management should add some talent and make a run at it. If Jeter or another established veteran made the same comments it would be considered his role as team captain. Do the Brewers have a veteran that is inclined to be a team captain? If not, then Braun stepping up may be ok. I agree he is a bit immature and definately not tenured enough to be a leader but if no one else is up to the role, then you get what you get.

Disclaimer: I am honestly not that familar with the Brewers clubhouse and who may or many not be perceived as a veteran leader on that club. Counsell maybe?

Wow. First of all the guy is from California and went to Miami.

Second, even though I admit that Braun has a cocky swagger and speaks his mind does not mean he's an "arrogant ******".

Yes, he is arrogant. If you went to "The U" you are from Miami in my book. The Miami baseball program has been known for years for breeding arrogance. Don't get me wrong, he is an elite player, but you can't deny he thinks his **** doesn't stink. ****** may have been too far (from a fan's standpoint). I don't dislike him just because he kills us. I have no problem with Pujols, Aramis Ramirez, or Adam Dunn. All of them are Astros killers. I just can't stand players that think they are better than the game and Braun definitely fits into that category.

My opinion:

You ask an honest question and you get an honest answer. It rarely happens. I would personally have him say something like this than blow smoke up my ass. If he says anything other than "we need pitching", he's lying by omission. What, like ALL the other teams in the MLB were clueless that the Brewers needed pitching until Braun opened his pie-hole?

Get real. The man is going to be the face of the franchise for the next good-long while. He will be the leader and there is no reason he can't step into the role when he feels like it. This may sound like a young guy mouthing off, but have those words come out of Jeter's mouth, and people would stand up and applaude the notion.

Having said that; I'd like to see a bit more humility out of Brauny. I wasn't a fan of his bat flips and watching the home run; leave that **** to Soriano.

And to say that young guys should be seen and not heard, I guess you can go tell LaBron to shut up and that he's not the leader of that team; nope, no need to hear from him, as his immaturity devalue his opinions. I'm not getting defensive here, just bustin' balls; but I think you can see my point.

An honest opinion from a Brewers fan on Braun! I love it!

I also have no problem with what he said. He was frustrated and on that weekend the Cubs WERE the better team. I just don't like the way he plays the game. Hopefully he will change as he gets older because he is an elite hitter but as of right now I just can't stand him.

I am curious about what things make you not like the way he plays the game?

I don't like how he stands and watches HRs and struts out of the batters box like he's a teenager who just hit a HR against his friends in gym class.

I don't like how every time someone throws in on him he thinks they are trying to hit him. Hello, they are major league pitchers and you are an elite hitter. They are just trying to get you out.

His entire demeanor reeks of arrogance on the field. There are a lot of players out there that had a great few years to start their career and fizzled out because they let their ego get in the way. He thinks he is already the best of the best.

The reason Jeter can get away with saying something like that is because of the way Jeter plays the game. Everything is hustle and he respects his opponents and teammates. I don't think Braun respects much other than his stat line.

HEH, as a Astros fan you must hate Michael Bourn, guy argues every pitch that is called a strike on him ;), and jumps when he gets called out on 3rd strikes or caught stealing, by the way I love Bourn and have him on my fantasy team.

There really aren't many similarities b/t the two. Bourn is humble and has worked hard to improve his game. He also defers all the credit he has received to Sean Berry and Lance Berkman.

And he doesn't argue every pitch that is called a strike.

I am not delusional. I know Pence doesn't have half the talent Braun does. But at least Pence plays the game the right way. If they were both Astros I would still like Pence more.

I don't like Carlos Lee either because he just doesn't play the game the way it should be played.

How does Carlos Lee not play the game right?

Do you like Ivan Rodriguez? I am assuming he does not play the game right under your standards.
