I am thinking about going on Sat. I was wondering if it was worth going to? I mainly collect Allen and Ginter stuff...I am need of completeing several set and was wondering if it was worth it. I am also looking for the 2006 A&G Stan Musial auto & one of the new Pres. Bush autos as well. I am not really interested in geting things signed. Plus one of my buddies said it was mainly for box busters and ventiage collectors. Is it worth it for me to drive 6hours and leave? Thanks for the help?

PS are the willing to trade I have a Jordan auto and Lebron auto I am wanting to trade...thanks agian!

YOU KNOW
i would say go for it
although the fact that you have to spend 20 or so dollars for a ticket plus gas getting there before you have even bought a card is for sure a downside

Let me tell you something. The National is not so much of a card show but rather a "museum" of our wonderful hobby's history. If you like sports in general you will see things at this show that may never surface again and that may have not seen the light of day in decades. You will see authentic game worn jerseys of players like Ruth, Mantle, Williams, Clemente Ty Cobb etc......you will see signed photos, bats, balls, caps, gloves, hockey sticks, pucks, pads, all gkinds of stuff. It is not so much about the newer stuff but let me say that you should be able to find what you are looking for at the show. I would recommend everyone going atleast once in their lifetime. It is an absolutely awesome experience. You will enjoy it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if you enjoy collecting sports cards or memorabilia, or listening to Lenny Kravitz, you're going to enjoy yourself at the National.

Yes it is a Museum  .....My Dinosaur butt and some of the other "older members" will be there.

Like Blanning said you have to go atleast once in your lifetime. This will be my first one!

I've never been there but my understanding is that if you want to go for "business" reasons, ie. to accomplish a specific task like picking up certain cards, you might feel like you wasted your time. It's a huge trip for you, (with serious expenses as far as gas etc.) with no guarantees you will find what you are looking for, and even if you do they might be very expensive.)

If on the other you want to go to have a really cool eperience, seeing an an incredible array of sports related stuff, hanging with others who have similar interests etc. meeting some of the folks from here, then it is well worth it and something you'll talk about for a while after.

edit: Keep in mind that there are plenty of folks here who will look out for cards for you, and if you have a couple of specific cards with the prices you are willing to pay, it will be as good as being there (if that is the reason for going.)

The national is far from just a vintage show. Out of the 600 tables there will probably be at least 100 with modern cards. There should be plenty of the new ginter stuff there

I saw cards last year that i will never own but just seeing them was enough. Being around the FCB crew is a perk and makes being there pretty much every hour the show is open fly by. It will be nice to see some members i've never met and seeing others again (hawkfandan and ballerskrip) to name just a couple. Hopefully, Matt will go nuts and open tons of wax!

If you don't go, you will regret it. Many people travel across the country to go to it. I am sure you will find everything new that you need. If I lived 6 hours away I'd go in a heartbeat.

If you are there for most of the day you will be tired. Driving 6 hours after walking on that floor for 5+ hours might make it very tough to do all in 1 day.

Looking forward to it! AND, I am leaving the wax ripping to Lisa, I got killed recently on some bcdp...Just hanging with the fcb crew and singles searching.

To the OP, it is 100% worth it. I highly suggest going, you won't regret it.

i went last year looking for signed mcgwire cards and stumbled upon the RAREST year of McGwire Bats- the IMPOSSIBLE to find, 1997 season. I had not seen one EVER.

I also came home with a Evan Longoria GU Helmet with MLB holo. Stole it for 700$ from a major auction house.

Came home with 2 pieces i NEVER IN A MILLION years thought i would see for sale.

IT IS 100% worth going.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU MIGHT STUMBLE UPON

if it was closer i would go in a heartbeat. Ill be definately be making the 3 hr trip next year as it returns in to Baltimore.

GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!
