Not a Star but Wakefield has very few cards auto'd or otherwise.

He is one of a few members of the Red Sox World series teams I haven't got a certified autograph of yet. I know he is a manager but Terry Francona is very big and no cards really.

He's not a superstar or anything, but try and find Derek Lowe stuff...I think he has an auto in that 1995 Old Judge set, but I don't think he has any pack certified autos or GU stuff...could be wrong, but I've searched for stuff off and on since he signed with the Braves and the Old Judge auto is the only thing I've seen.

You're right that Lowe doesn't have much stuff here's most of his Red Sox game used cards.

He also has a GU hat card from Topps 206 but those are pretty rare. I sold two for nearly $100 each.

I felt like doing a little research this morning. However, bear in mind these numbers are all according to Beckett :D. These are the total number of different cards for each player. This doesn't include overall print run.

Palmeiro - 568 auto / 1,468 relic
Henderson - 548 auto / 1,574 relic
Sosa - 469 auto / 1,979 relic
Moose - 416 auto / 773 relic
Berkman - 404 auto / 1,276 relic
Biggio - 401 auto / 731 relic
Pudge - 341 auto / 1,799 relic
Thome - 274 auto / 1,573 relic
Canseco - 265 auto / 361 relic
Glaus - 245 auto / 882 relic
Nomar - 193 auto / 905 relic
Bernie - 159 auto / 798 relic
Rivera - 139 auto / 391 relic
Pettitte - 137 auto / 492 relic
Delgado - 127 auto / 979 relic
McGwire - 124 auto / 146 relic
Ichiro - 107 auto / 1,069 relic
Damon - 105 auto / 393 relic
Hoffman 68 auto / 235 relic
Beckham - 57 auto / 8 relic
Schlereth - 50 auto / 5 relic

and....no hobby love at all for Derek Lowe - 6 auto / 34 relic :(

Most of these guys aren't too bad until you start to get below 150 autos. Regarding McGwire and Ichiro, I think there was plenty of interest by the Big 3, but I've always heard that Mac doesn't like to sign and Ichiro is exclusive with Upper Deck, so there's not much that can be done about either one.

Even for someone who collects Derek Lowe, think about the 100's of guys who have 0 auto/relic after years in the league.

Larry Walker is a guy who will get HOF consideration and has very few autographs relative to other stars of his generation, he also doesn't have a lot of super high-end stuff that's unsigned.

Jarcar sure has a lot of Walker stuff. I don't think he has the numbers neccessary for the Hall, but he was one of the better all-around players of his time. I'd take a Walker auto for he PC anytime.[/quote:bzaiaiu4]

I just looked and Walker has a little more high end stuff than I thought, 14 barrels, 5 logos, 1 nameplate, 1 bat knob, and some laundry tags. Walker was one of my favorite players, a 5-tool player. I personally think he should get in, career .300+/.400/.500+ guy with nice SB numbers and Gold Gloves. There's a good shot he won't get in, probably the Rockies factor being the biggest reason.[/quote:bzaiaiu4]

The problem with the high end stuff is that there is little or any of his stuff out there as people are hording it when they get it. I know a guy who has a better collection than me and jarcar combined. It is just sick. He should get in to the hall. If Jim Rice can get in Walker should be able to get in.

The problem with Walker is that his home and away splits are too huge to ignore.

Home: .348/.441/.637 with 215 HR's
Away: .278/.370/.495 with 169 HR's

If his numbers were absolutely incredible it would be one thing, but IMO his numbers are borderline HOF if it was a neutral park. With those splits IMO he falls short.

Sammy Sosa has a lot of stuff, whether you want rare inserts from the 90s or game-used and patches from 2000 and up. He just doesn't have as many autographs as other stars which partly explains why they sell for good prices.

Polanco now has 2 autos!! There is a Chirography triple in 2008 SPA with Eckstein and Ellis numbered to 50.

So there's hope yet

As far as I know that card was never made. Polanco was supposed to have quite a few autos in SP authentic like Chirography, Letter Patch autos and some duals all were on the initial checklist but were not included in the final product. Kenny Rogers is another player who had a good career and has no certified autographs.

Yea, I was referring to the first post statement:"(especially the autographs)"...and there truly aren't very many certified sosa autos.
